  1. I like the black grain fill, add black hardware not the gold and it will be stunning in my opinion. Then again I have a very strong dislike of gold hardware. I have used it before, but it looks cheap and gawdy to me, even when I used it. I have a bunch of gold hardware I will sell cheap though. The BLING is the wood and how it is used not the hardware. Minimize the hardware look so it is not jewelry on the guitar. It should be more like subtle accents to the Bling in the wood. Very nice work Zeke. MK
  2. That is a beauty. As far as color, I would ditch the gold hardware and exchange for black hardware. Maybe add light black grain fill, then clear coat. Or possibly use a type of ceruse finish for the black then clear coat. Just my 0.02 cents worth. Nice work. MK
  3. I gotcha, agree on that. 54mm apart on the VS100 56mm on the 510TS.
  4. He's not using the VS100n Curtisa. I just posted a revised pdf for what he is using.. The Gotoh 510TS MK
  5. OKay give me a little time and I will make a PDF for you. MK
  6. This PDF I made should help. Check with scrap to make sure though. You should be able too print out the PDF to scale and use as a template. download the PDf file. The image is not useable for what you need . MK Deleted files as not needed, Wrong Bridge.

  10. Here is a peek at some of my work for others. By permission from Doug at Parable Guitars. I present the redone model of the Paragon. check out Parable Guitars at Parable Guitars. More of Parable models to be done soon. If you need assistance in a 3d model please contact us at Rio Customs MK
  11. Hi All, I have decided to add 3D CAD modeling for other Luthiers that use CNC. I have a few customers already and a lot of work to do. I will be offering 3d Models of Bodies and Necks based on your designs. Prices will be based on complexity and other parameters required. Each business will own the models as there own and can then make as many as they choose. My new website is just up and still be worked on so not much to show at this time. Hopefully soon will have Renders of Customer models. If interested please contact me through http://www.riocustoms.com or http://www.rioguitars.com Thanks in advance for your consideration. Mike
  12. Titebond will release with heat and moisture (steam). look up removing an acoustic neck from a guitar. there are many ways to do this. MK
  13. Remind me not to enter GOTM when this one is entered. LOL!! Very Nice Scott. mk
  14. No what you are doing is removing the high spots of the gloss finish. this is normal when level sanding. Once it is all hazy so it is smooth, you should SPRAY some clear coat back on it. Use a rattle can if that is all you have. Put a few light coats on and level sand again with higher grit paper. Do this a few times increasing the the grit. once at 1200 or more then you can start to polish the finish. If need be use some mineral spirits with the higher grits (800 +) to slightly wet sand as you level and not load up the paper. keep it clean as possible. MK
  15. Thanks Scott and Biz point taken, I will look at that. That is the type of feedback I want and need. Trying to make players guitar can be hard at times. mk
  16. Only when the CNC freaks out from I do something wrong or something breaks, I'm good. I was looking at an m&m when I came up with this shape. MK
  17. So here is one of my new 3 d models I am working on. An organic flow, tele neck through. Still have to do the neck transition. Currently placed a set neck model I made in to see what it looks like. Feedback please. MK
  18. Thanks Curtisa, I don't know enough about the Chinese CNC machines. I was looking into them for Mike so I could maybe point him in a direction. MK
  19. An xcarve is crap in my opinion. Now that being said that does not mean you cannot do what you want with it. It will require a lot more sanding on your part and don't expect it to be super accurate. As far as hobby licenses, no, many do have educational license though. Fusion 360 is free from Autocad. Vectric does have Cut2d, it is a very basic 2d CAD/CAM and around $300. Some use Easel which is a 2d cad it is cranky at best.
  20. Mike to get started plan on about $3000 min. I'm sure there may be some cheaper but I would not trust them to be accurate enough to do inlays. The only free CAD/Cam is Fusion 360. it is online based and the learning curve is very steep. It will do 3D as well as 2D but again very steep learning curve. Plan on about a year, maybe 6 months if you are working at it 5 to 6 hours a day. mk
  21. I added a Lefty S Style today. also the a lefty Paddle head neck to go with it. LOL!! MK
