  1. No I would have asked for a 21 year old depending on the brand. Funny cause I agree with you on the Glenfiddich. Not usually my choice. My Daugther bought me a bottle of of GF rum finish. Man It was great!!!!! I have now tried there port finish as well and it is very nice. LPG is very nice and I like the peaty taste. Where the Bowmore seems to be bit more smokey and While I like it, it is not my favorite. I havn't tried the 40 year old Bowmore yet ,as the only place I can find it is at Papa's Brother's Steak house and they want $345.00 for a shot. I just can't justify that. LOL:))) Glenmorenge (spelling)is also resonabley priced and has some wonderful finishes as well as just good malt. The Macallan cask strength is very good at 127 proof but really needs to be cut with Distilled water to enjoy the flavor without the burn. I keep at least 3 different ones in stock at home for my needs. LOL:))) Sometime maybe we can meet somewhere in the world and enjoy a GOOD drink. MIke
  2. MacAllan or maybe better still, Bowmore??? Glenfiddich rum or port finish, maybe??? Ahh, Single malts the real deal!!! LOL:))) Good call Wes!!! Oh and the cigar box mandy looks great!!! MK
  3. Making cove cuts with a table saw has been around for many years. someone just made a jig to sell and make some dollars. vs the old wooden fence at an angle and set the blade. mk
  4. I think TED focused and used Marksound as his spokes person!!!! LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry MS, I just couldn't resist. This whole thing sounds like BS to me as well. I mean really freeze the wart or mole off otherwise who gives a Rats Sh!t? MK
  5. Wishing you well in the universe BP! Miss ya Bud!!!! MK
  6. I still think you should get with TED I'm sure he knows!!!!
  7. I don't know crap about it. But maybe ask Ted Williams if his head is better now than before????????
  8. +1 on the walk away. Regroup and think it through. mk
  9. Steel City happens to be comprised of the old Delta engineers that left after it(Delta) moved operations overseas. These guys know there business and from what I have seen the tools reflect the quality of the OLD DELTA brand. MK
  10. Looks like a minor mineral streak to me. But not sure?. It won't bleach if it is. MK
  11. A pic would help. but unless you plan on staining the board darker, most likely not. It is most likely a mineral stain which can range from just very dark to black, maybe a worm stain, (bluishish to purple, ambrosia) , fungus (spalting) or just some heartwood. more amber to brown. Let's see a pic and go from there? if heartwood you MAY ??? be able to bleach it, but that is questionable as well. ( i've never seen it match quite right) m
  12. Give it a new name and change the speed!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!! seriously, though What Rick said. otherwise listen to what your Dr says. Sounds like you impeded the blood flow and caused some temp loss of feeling and pain. MK
  13. What brand of shellac? Most likely Zinnser Bullseye (LOL) Most that is is a can is what they call 3 pound cut. It takes about a week per coat for this to gas off and harden. Also what was the temp and humidity? If the temp was above 70 and humidity above 50% add about a week for each coat with a 3 lb cut. I know what the can says! (Apply and when dry lightly sand and reapply usually a few hours) That's fine but it must still setup and gas off. Just like lacquer or other finishes. Shellac is notoriuos for the problem you describe. French polishing is done using shellac and done by burnishing while applying. The added heat from the process will even embellish the pad material if done wrong. My suggestion is to allow the guitar to sit in a cool, dry area for about 30 days. Let the finish stabilize then sand back and reapply. Then let sit another 30days in the same environment. Then you should be good to go. I would use a 1 pound cut when refinishing though and allow at least 3 days between coats only because of the existing problem. Hope this helps. MK
  14. well, once or twice a year I drive 5 hours to Port Aransas to visit my sister...I leave in the morning and drive back the same day...but I dn't enjoy the drive back. Wes, thats traveling in my book, not just driving distance. LOL:)))) Driving to Austin from Dallas and back the same day is driving distance. MK
  15. Damn only 3 hours for you? I always used 5 hrs as my gauge of driving distance in Texas LOL:)))) a good hunting lease was driving distance to me. LMAO!!! MK
  16. May I suggest you start at Stewmacs site on scale length, use the fret calculator based on your build and it will give you most of the dimensions you are seeking. Stewmac Link Just a friendly suggestion MK
  17. Sorry but I have to chime in here, It's 60+ replies and ?????????? ***, just paint the damn thing and be done with it. Use whatever suits you and if it looks okay then fine if not redo it. All of you that have tried to help DD I commend you, those that have fueled this fire, you have too much time on your hands and need to find a real life. Just my .02 cents. DD try it and see what happens you can always sand it off. Either crap or get off the pot!!!!!!!!! All I see this thread as, is a waste of prime Server space that cost Kevin $$$. MIke
  18. Better off with a good mallet and chisel. Or spend the bucks and get a router Just my .02cents mk
  19. A better pic with endgrain and resawing to get past the stains might help?( maybe cut off 6 to 10 inches, the split ends, then reseal them) the off cuts may give us a better clue, looks somewhat like silver leaf maple but hard to tell from the pics. Does it have any bark at all to use a a reference as well? Just my guess and .02cents.
  20. I like hardtails. I own one. LOL
  21. Here's one from Guitar Fetish that is top mount strings LINK MK
  22. Jon just be careful of REACTION WOOD. what i mean is Limbs. They had tension so be aware. Trunk wood and root are very worthwhile. just be careful with the other. Just some friendly advice!!!LOL:))) Mke
  23. If #2 were more yellow in color I would say Lodgepole pine. Very hard wood when dry. Just a guess??? But the color doesn't quite look right but the grain does? Just my .02cents MK
  24. I used it (CA)on a cut once, so I could get to the Hospital for stitches ( also used it on a bird dog once for the same reason)? Not sure if I would on my NUTZ though!!!!!!! Most likely I'd put them on ice and hope like hell they can put them back on!!!!!!!! LMAO!!!! Seriously though, Godins choice is well founded as is using Elmers, or Titebond. Just holds it in place while changing the strings. Just my .02cents MK
