  1. Very nice neck, I've always wanted to try one since looking at Rick's stuff.
  2. If I were trying to chamber the wings, I would use a forstner bit on a drill press carefully to get as much out as I could, then clean it up with hand tools or by putting the whole wing over a spindle sander and very carefully move it along it a couple times until it looks squarer. Looking very snazzy by the way, looking forward to this.
  3. +1 on replacing them, get some nice mop inlays or go with something more interesting that would work well with the guitar overall, like a colored acrylic to match an interestingly painted body.
  4. And ebony is easy to cover up dremel mistakes!
  5. Really great work this month everybody, but I had to go with the drifter using the "what would I pick up first" method. The raven and the lone wolf tied for second for me though, but I don't have much experience with acoustics or multi-scales, so I would have went for the drifter.
  6. Maybe a Warmoth pre-routed body blank would be better for you? All you would have to do is rough-cut the shape then sand it down to however you like it.
  7. If your going for the Gibson style, Warmoth has bridge routing dimensions at http://www.warmoth.com/Guitar/Bodies/Optio...OptionsPop.aspx.
  8. If both were to be built, I probably would go for the left one first because it looks more comfortable IMO.
  9. Bad grammar really annoys me, if you do so happen to start ranting, please do so in a proper manner.
  10. At the website he will be posting sound clips soon (according to his blog), I would let your ears decide if it's spam or not when they are up. I'll try to post a link when they become available. I really have no idea how they sound, but I was thinking about getting some.
  11. I wouldn't say that NO finish somewhere is a bad thing, it depends on the wood really. If it's a more traditional wood I probably would, but something like Wenge or Padauk doesn't necessarily need any finish at all.
  12. At least go fight in private in the off topic section...
  13. When seeing that an evil laugh came to mind immediately.
  14. If you know all about scale length, you should be able to place a bridge, just search for it. I believe Stewmac has the answer in their free information section somewhere.
  15. Go for it, at that price how could you not.
  16. I looked at the carvin basses and I would end up customizing it so that it comes out a little over my price range, so that leaves me with their 4 string active kit, or a warmoth build, which could be a lot cheaper.
  17. My father always wanted to learn bass and I think I'm going to get him one, but don't want to spend a fortune and still want a high quality instrument. Do you think I should go with a Warmoth build or a Carvin kit? I would probably just buy a Warmoth body and put a Stewmac P bass neck on it since it will fit their pockets. I would probably go with the cheapest options either way. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
