  1. I've done recessed TOM bridges. Godin builds their LGX guitar this way as well. No neck angle. Seems more comfortable to play that way.
  2. Ouch! that sucks. Better a pencil line than a glue line, but still, that must have been frustrating. I took a break from building guitars and I'm getting back into it and all the mistakes I'm doing now were things that I had learned not to do...
  3. I used "Sheduah" wood for the fingerboard on one of my projects. Worked out real well. Very stable, no fret movement and looks like IMO.
  4. What did the customer think of the glue lines at the neck joint? Other than that, it looks like a real nice guitar. I like the idea of using a different wood for the top.
  5. HA HA HA COOL ! & into the bookmarks that goes. There is a lydian music school over here in dublin Glad you like the geets, Have a very cool pair of Jems in the works just now that I will be putting up soon, Kinda like your evil twin explorers. I have to revive the mahogany/lacewood Jem thread I decided to complete. I'd love to see yours.
  6. Don't laugh. Martin has released a really nice acoustic with a plywood neck.
  7. Hey paulie - like your guitar website. You're Aeolian, I'm Lydian LOL! www.lydian.ca
  8. In the end, its all about personal preference. Good luck with your design!
  9. I would guess that it sounds thin like..... tin?
  10. The Razor neck puts a new meaning in "playing 'til your fingers bleed" LOL!
  11. Calling the neck a "Razor" doesn't seem like a good marketing strategy IMO. Ouch! For the thickness, I don't see the point of doing anything like this. I'm probably too much a of a practical guy.
  12. To me, it sounds like a strat neck heel would would better with the tele bridge.
  13. I'm a little confused here. I always assumed that a Tele bridge was narrower than a Strat bridge since the neck heel of a Telecaster is narrower than a Strat. I start looking at detailed specs for bridges and lo and behold, tele bridges have a wider string span than Strats. I'm not a Tele expert or anything but doesn't that make the tele more prone to having the strings slip off the edge of the fretboard? Sounds like a wider neck (like a Strat) would be a great idea for the telecaster... Am I missing something real obvious here?
  14. Hope you have fun! I took a break and I'm getting back into things.
  15. Hey! You're the guy from the Parker Forum. People worship you over there!
  16. Anyone have some? I also need some Strat templates.
  17. When do you need this for? I could build you a neck blank with truss rod. You shape the neck profile (with a single rasp) the way you like it and glue on your fingerboard.
  18. I've done this, but I'm in Canada. I'm sure that there a lot of people here that could do this for you. Have you considered getting a new, custom neck made instead? It probably would cost much more and you get to keep your original neck.
  19. I have a Dimarzio Tone Zone with a broken coil I was unable to fix (can't really re-wind PUs myself right now). Let me know if you want it via PM
  20. I like the explorer but the V just looks wrong with no headstock. Have you thought of doing a steinberger strat style instead?
  21. Bingo! Thank you so much. That's exactly it.
