  1. I unfortalnetly don't have any camera or scanner right now to post pictures, but here we go: first I soldered a shielded wire to the right contatcs of the little mic, then I glued a plastic clip onto the mic. I filed the clip a bit so I can put it on the pins of the bridge (steel string acoustic). I gotta put it around there, cause at the soundhole it would be way too bassy. One thing you gotta know: I used the microphone plugged right into the soundcard's mic input, which has got its own phantom-power. This trick will not work without a phantom-powered preamp input. And I'm glad you liked the music.
  2. Anyone else tried stag-horn? This material is fine for me, either for nut or acoustic saddle.
  3. Here's a recording that I made using an electret microphone of a cell phone's head set. The mic has its own surface mount little preamp. I've been using some hall reverb only. I played it on my steel string acoustic, a cheapo Hohner. Nicae's Song Use right click and 'Save target as...', cause Tripod doesn't allow direct download.
  4. Honey color with that flame top is awesome.
  5. It's gonna be kinda burst I bet! ...with a roller?!
  6. Or just sit down and play. Anything that comes into your mind. You don't even need to copy anything exactly; just play 'something like that'. One good practice thingy is you choose a pattern - for example blues - then play two measures of chords then two measures of improvisation. You really gotta take it easy, time is on your side.
  7. I've never seen such a guitar yet. Ingenious idea. Will you put an acoustic bridge on that?
  8. I better like the bronze's sound. It's more focused and got singing sustain.
  9. '54 Black Beauty Custom and '57 Black Beauty Custom, they're all mahogany, carved.
  10. Since it's a neck thru, I don't think you should be afraid of sustain loss. But because it's a neck thru, the main resonances come from the neck wood, because that's the 'core' that is mainly under tension. Will the outer wings matter tonally? IMHO yes, the will, but with much less effect to the tone, especially with those glue joints, but good glueing can veritably 'fuse' wood fibers together.
  11. This is all I can see on that page. Nothing more loaded.
  12. WOW! Awesome jazzy sound there. Quite percussive, like a nylon-string acoustic. I had to cut some trebles, they hurt. Try those heavier strings, they're gonna rock I bet.
  13. Have a look at the magnets, they're staggered to achieve balanced volume for each string.
  14. Yeah, DR's are nice, they put plain .024 3rd in a .012 set, which is my fav.
  15. Where's Rickenbacker? They're so sweet...
  16. Ebony fingerboard, H,S,S or H,S,H pickups mounted on pickguard will surely do the job.
  17. Oh yea, sorry I put the wrong link but I'm glad you've found what you're looking for.
  18. Almost all Ric's are made of maple, and this description says the fretboard is rosewood.
