  1. I was thinking about building a seven string with the same sort of trem as rsera, ie with Piezos and that got my thinking - would it be possible to output using a stereo jack, with a custom stereo cable, into a breakout box that splits the signal? Obviously, you'd need a footswitch or two but it could be an interesting idea, no?
  2. St Anger And Justice For All no batteries
  3. We just got one of those at home but methinks the father won't let me near the thing with wood. Should be able to get round him though. Question: what are the advantage of using a milling machine for guitar making? I'm a bit tired so that probably why I can't figure it out.
  4. That's cool. Those tabs taught me how to play guitar. Cheers man.
  5. I would say no. If they're new pickups of a decent quality, they'll already be waxed or won't need it.
  6. Hey, aren't you Fil, the bloke that used to do the Metallica tabs for Encycmet.com??
  7. Don't really have any old stomp boxes lying around tbh. Line in/out eh? Intersting. I probably will end up adding a reverb tank (If I ever can afford to build it)
  8. Cheers and good advice. One more question - What features should I get thrown in here? I'll have at least 2 channels, possibly 4, switchable fx loop, and hopefully a tube pre-amp in it. Can any one else think of any good ideas?
  9. I imagine you would still have to use a sealer and primer. Depending on the wood, There may be more or less work. I think.
  10. Thanks for the help guys. I don't suppose anyone knows anywhere in England or Ireland that sell This Cab??
  11. If he does every do it, I'll try and get him to do a tutorial on it. He keeps saying to me that it'd be cheaper to get the cab and speakers and let him build the head/electronic bit. Problem is, he's less than in tune (sic) with guitars and amps and stuff like that.
  12. Example - a 2X12 Marshall 80W Valvestate combo, €450. Mr Father says he could build a cheaper & better one.
  13. I believe it comes as Part of The EMG KH-21 set but I may be mistaken and I don't know if the pickguard would fit an ESP.
  14. As far as I can tell, one end of the bar has to have a left hand thread on it and the other end has to have a right hand thread, in order to pull the blocks together or push them away.
  15. Hopefully a couple of people can help me out here. My dad thinks that he could build a better sounding amp than a marshall for less. So I'm trying to find various components and their prices at the moment (specifically speakers, Celestions if possible). Any help would, as always, be greatly appreciated.
  16. Ow, my chin hurts. What sort of bridge are you putting on the 7 string? Looks kinda wierd to me. I love that colour and the flame. Alder?
  17. OK, an update. I replaced the volume pot and the fecker is still sqeauling. I seriously don't know what's happening. Apparently, it goes when the guitar is turned away from the amp but it isn't feedback. It's of a higher pitch than feedback. This is incredibly annoying to me and the owner of the guitar as you can imagine. Does anyone have any good/crazy/any ideas and solutions?
  18. One of my house mates' acoustic has decided to crack in the bridge so I've decided to have a go at replacing it. Anyone have any cool hints on how to do it?
  19. Hey GhesQi J, what did you do with that 7 string you made? Do you still have it? Was it based on any other guitar because I've seen a picture (from Guitar World) of Munky or Head from Korn playing a guitar that looked the exact same as yours. Same colour, same hardware, same inlay, same everything! [Edit]: Never mind. I just checked your website. Doh!
  20. Lovely suggestion but the tone is a push-pull switch to cut out the cap on the tone. As for the clips, I've got some empty beer cans. I'm sure I can use those some way
  21. Yeah, I'll try that so. I've no alligator clips (poor student) but I'll do something. One question - am I up **** creek if it isn't the pot? This chap doesn't have much money so I'm doing this on the cheap for him but I'd like to get this fixed for him. It should be the start of a long guitar tech career
  22. First of all, this is an Aria guitar I'm working on. Not exactly the greatest pickups in the world. This squealing apparently started rather suddenly. It is not feedback. It's almost like an overtone over everything when playing, especially at high volumes. It can be controlled with the volume pot, ie roll off the volume and the squeal goes. It cannot be controlled any other way AFAIK. The electronics seem to be ok but the volume pot does feel extremely rough. I'm thinking it might be the pot but again, any suggestion would be appreciated.
  23. About 6-8 mm on the neck and middle pickups and about 2-3 at the bridge (humbucker). Apparently, it was playing properly for a few minutes earlier than just began squealing again.
