  1. It should be mallet and chisel. Hammer may not be the most suitable equipment...imo.
  2. dave weiner is cool...you guys should listen to the "shove the sun aside" CD
  3. Okay guys, finally got an act moving!!! Yipee!!! The body is around 40% done now...prototype was done before the final and i'm sooo freakin glad that the I did a prototype to test fit the equipment...lol, I just realised that there was a taper in the neck width and I am so stupid that the neck fits perfect on the butt but gets a big gap where the body meets the heel. The prototype was done on a milling machine which took 6 hrs to do just the top body routs. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a120/rok...cs/DSC01462.jpg Yes I regretted using the milling machine so instead, I spend all night last night drawing out templates to be laser cut out on 6mm acylic. And boy what a differnce!! So quick when using a router!!! I stuck my flame maple veneer (thanks to brian calvert) on before routing and used pattex to glue the veneer to the alder. And when moist this bady is a beauutttyy!! PHOTOS DO NO JUSTICE TO THE GRAIN IN THIS FLAME!!! TOday I routed the pickup cavities and the TOm bridge recess. Cutted the body on the band saw and on monday I will update with the neck pocket (with taper), control cavity and sanded smooth to 600grit. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a120/rok...cs/DSC01464.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a120/rok...cs/DSC01465.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a120/rok...cs/DSC01466.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a120/rok...cs/DSC01467.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a120/rok...cs/DSC01468.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a120/rok...cs/DSC01469.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a120/rok...cs/DSC01472.jpg Apologies if there are too many body shots but I am a photography typeaguy and like to fool with my camera. I am aiming to get a finish on the maple similar to my test pieces.... http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a120/rok...cs/DSC01479.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a120/rok...cs/DSC01488.jpg Cheers
  4. Wow, you got these? http://www.grizzly.com/products/G1079 http://www.grizzly.com/products/G0513X http://www.grizzly.com/products/G7944 Nice buys! Must have a very green workshop by now. Though if only grizzly shipped abroad, then I woul definately consider these: http://www.grizzly.com/products/G0574 http://www.grizzly.com/products/G0587 If grizzly could create a addition to their combo machinery like.... hmmm.....a buffer drum sander belt/disc sander with fretboard radiusing attachment then I would go nuts!
  5. OK...body design done....I feel 9/10 confident with this and took 1/10th of the time to design rather than the icefly. Its better to create ur own than to copy.
  6. Shoot..I got goosebumps and my arm hair shot up when I saw the pics.
  7. lol, it counts still. But bocaster box aint my things
  8. Thx...all that hard work..just for a pic...man this forum is great..so much passion and love for guitars and each other. Also, I just made this from a standard tele dxf file: Wadda ya think? It has the top tele horn, Iceman butt and PRS cutaway.
  9. I was wondering if anyone have seen any modified telecaster bodies around. If you know of any, pls mention them. This is benficial for me and probrably other forum members thanks. I look at schecter and not many have shown up. Typing "tele hybrid" or "tele mod" on google doesn't help either , Cheers P.S. I am general looking for body shape mods, not wiring and paintjob etc..
  10. Ok guys....small update...CNC machine is broken....therefore its gonna be hand done. And to change....the body will be based on a tele except with a prs lower horn and iceman sharp arse... Prototype gonna be done in the next couple of days hopefully...pics soon.
  11. Holy sweet mother of pearl!! Oh god, its been planed as well. And for 99 I think its a quick buy.
  12. What the hell?? I only clicked on view results to see how many people have already voted, then when I hit back it says that I have voted already??? How can I turn this around??
  13. Get a Gretsch Pro Jet. Great tone ,looks, and dirt cheap for a gretsch...
  14. ahh,, now I see why you chose that colour...
  15. A ground point is like the earth line in a power plug. The ground on a guitar will just get rid of any unwanted signals = leading to a guitar with less hum. THe more you ground, the less the fuzz basically. It doesn't matter what guitar you have, there is still a basic circuit at least involved and ground can be anthing metalic that is not a part of the circuit. So in this case, the stoptail and TOm bridge of the SG can ground to the back of pots, shielding, pickups, and the pots themselves should be wired to ground. P.S I learnt by opening up my guitars and staring at the wiring seeing which went where. And from there I think you'll find the ground spots.
  16. Yer, I agree with the green. For a moment when I first saw it, I paused, thinking that the ibanez was a tubescreamer lol!
  17. +1. Perry would know what he'd be doing plus he seems like the person right now who has the slot to do it.
  18. Heres a good floyd for dirt cheap without cutting the balls off the strings. http://store.guitarfetish.com/goflroflotrs.html
  19. Saves time calculating bridge distance, pickup cavities and neck ocket measurements I guess.
  20. Drool...... However from the cavity shot the inner recessed ring is not alighned with the outline. But who cares right, no one will see.
  21. I think 11.!! Can't figure out what it is yep
  22. Yer, the grizzly kits beat saga kit by far. They have been tops, gold hardware and actually works. I would have got the floyd pRS kit if it didn't have the weird curve at the butt.
  23. I think all the jem or Korn models are based around the RG model template by ibanaz. There is a CAD drawing of that in http://www.guitarbuild.com
  24. true, i'd rather spend more on the body and neck than pay for crap and throw away the hardware, cos chances are, they won't be used anyways.
