  1. That turned out nicely! I'm bummed that I haven't been able to do jack with mine yet.
  2. Well, the utility aspect is there... I'm generating these models in preparation for an eventual (probably not any time soon) transition into the CNC world. They're totally accurate and to scale, based on my CAD blueprints. Fusion 360 is able to generate toolpaths and export Gcode, so I'm considering this a worthwhile time investment. Plus, y'know, pretty pictures.
  3. Haha yeah, I haven't figured out how to adjust the grain texture's placement in a meaningful way. Every body that I've modeled has the same issue.... it's annoying, but I'm sure I'll find the appropriate fix sooner or later.
  4. Better and better! That binding looks like quite the task, but it looks like you've got it under wraps.
  5. I was able to hear them in person at NAMM last year. Techno-wizardry aside, they're just really great sounding pickups. I'm also curious to see how you like them.
  6. Shop access is still limited, so I'll continue to build in a virtual space. I've yet to figure out how to nicely model complex top carves and such, so here's a Tele thing
  7. That's so cool! I really like your muted red rather than the usual bright colors you see in these finishes.
  8. I'm slowly getting the hang of Fusion 360. It's great fun to see a 2D plan take shape, even in a virtual environment. Here's some amateur modeling/rendering I did on a V-inspired design. I haven't modeled any hardware or pickups yet, but you get the idea.
  9. The limba/wenge guitar is in the happy hands of its new owner! The owner is going to work on a video and sound clips soon, though I can assure you that this is one mean-sounding guitar. As always, I'll post it as soon as I have it! Thanks for joining me on this journey...now on to the next one!
  10. Is that Solarez? Whenever I see someone using it, it seems to go either really well or really bad. I don't mean to say that your work isn't good, of course... that finish just seems finicky and unforgiving.
  11. Now you HAVE to do a Damascus pickguard. That's the coolest thing I've heard all day!
  12. Thank you! That switch slot is the result of drilling out as much as I could with a 1/16" drill bit and then very carefully cleaning the remainder out with a tiny file. Once the bulk was out, I had to fine tune for the switch throw to work properly. After spending about two hours swearing at a small slot, I went and designed a jig to make it much easier next time
  13. Nice! I'm looking forward to this one. Thanks Tim! @103801061982, if you have any questions about the compound scarf jig, I'm happy to help!
  14. Your projects are great fun to watch! I can't wait to see what happens next....
  15. This is already a beauty! Any ideas for finish yet?
  16. I'll try to remember to stuff one of those into a conversation whenever appropriate This one is all wrapped up and ready to rock. More pics and a video/sound clip soon!
  17. That would be really interesting! I have no idea what I'm going to do with that thing. Oh! The finish is pretty well completely cured on the limba/wenge guitar, I just need to make the nut and start assembly. Pics when I take some good ones.
  18. Yours is still my absolute favorite explorer style, bar none. Beautifully done, as always!
  19. That's so cool! Man, I love that you always have something unique happening in your shop.
  20. Check out this magnificent billet of Pale Moon I just grabbed. The splattery effect was way too interesting to pass up! It's thick enough for two separate fretboards, easily wide enough for a 7. This will make a beautiful pair of boards, for sure.
