  1. You can try taking the headstock logo file and having it cut onto vinyl. There may be some copyright issues with that though.
  2. Do a search in the forum. This has been discussed several times recently.
  3. I'm just curious about something... I have a custom inlay idea that I've had cut and may need some help installing. The problem is that from approximatley the 12th fret on down, they design is pretty small and with my limitied experience, I don't think I can pull it off. So, if anyone out there is an experienced inlayer (is that a real word?), and would be interested in helping me and making a couple bucks in the process, contact me and I'll send you a picture of the actual inlays and we can discuss a price. Thanks, Steve sscovill@msn.com
  4. To do it right, why not remove the entire fret board and buy a new, non-slotted one?
  5. www.gibson.com should be of some help as well. I'm building a Les Paul right now and have a body template. However, what I'm finding is that my own "errors" cause me to adjust as I go along. Even though I have the templates and specs, there's still a human element that you have account for. Do you research, gather your wood, think...then think again, and then go slowly. Don't be an impatient bastard like me and try to go too fast. That's the fastest way to mess it up. Just my two cents worth...
  6. Does any one know where you can buy a sheet of white pearloid material suitable for cutting custom inlay pieces out of? I'm sure it's a basic question to a lot of you, so please humor me. Thanks, Steve
  7. HA! I've never been called an overthinker before...usually it's just the opposite. Thanks for the advice. I appreciate it. Steve
  8. I thought it was designed to be with the screws facing up because of where the lead wire was located. If I flip it upside down, the lead wire will be on the side not facing the pots. That's why I thought it was designed to go that way. I didn't know I could use it upside down and just run the wire around.
  9. Hi guys, I'm working on my first build (a Les Paul) and bought two pick ups (cheapies) to go in it that at least look like the Les Paul style pick ups. My question is...the bridge pick up that I bought apparently is designed to sit in the body in the opposite direction (screws facing up) than the real Les Paul pickups. http://www.guitarshopsupply.net/product_in...products_id=199 I'm assuming I can't simply install it upside down to match the look of the Les Pauls, so...do I have any options other than buying the real thing? Thanks, Steve
  10. The Rhoades guitar is here: http://www.guitarbuildingtemplates.com/electricguitar.htm Not sure about the ironbird though.
  11. It's a standard Fender 25.5 rosewood fretboard.
  12. I don't think that's as much of a Vai dye-job as it is a Grateful Dead meets Ibanez dye job. I agree...not my style either, but who the cares what people think, as long as you dig it.
  13. It doesn't look like your binding "folds" over the top of the body. Is it just the picture, or did you just apply it to the sides?
  14. Yeah, I know what to buy and where to buy it. I was just hoping to unload this fretboard that I have in exchange for something that I need.
  15. Isn't it a bit difficult to bend the binding uniformly? Especially if you're using a white/black/white combination?
  16. I have a question about bindings. I've seen them on stewmac.com as well as all the router accessories. My question is...is the binding a straight piece that you have to form to fit the binding channel, or is it already preformed? Thanks guys, Steve
  17. Does anyone have any white/black binding material (enough to do a Les Paul) that they would sell/trade? Thanks, Steve
  18. I found them with no problem... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...3752341384&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...3752343920&rd=1
  19. If anyone here is an airbrush artist, I'd like to discuss an idea I have for my guitar. Please send me an email at sscovill@msn.com Thanks, Steve
  20. Any chance you'd trade it for a pre-radiused rosewood Fender 25.5" scale fretboard. I know it's a long shot, but it's worth a shot...
  21. Hey Axeman...have pictures of the completed job?
  22. Agreed. Sounds to me like they're taking the "personality" out of guitars.
  23. It's probably something very simple that you're overlooking. With photobucket.com, all you have to do is select the URL of the photo you have stored on their servers, copy it, and then paste it into the text box here on the forum. At least that 's how I do it.
