  1. Thanks for the dimensions, i posted that a lil while ago and have got the measurements myself now, and made a template. The neck at 24th fret is 58mm and at nut 46mm, so no too far off lol. As for the bridge....i have no idea, my mates RG has a floating bridge, but thats way over my head especially for my first build (at least it looks complicated) so i have bought just a standard 6 string bridge, i dont know the proper name cos im a noob, but its practically identicle to the bridge on my fender strat. Does the headstock tracing include machine head positions? I have PMed you anyway that will be very handy Ty Adamski Seing as its a strat knock off bridge with F spacing, this means that the fretboard at the 24th fret will be 56 mm. And seing as your mate has a floating bridge (fat 10 maybe unles it is a floyd) it should of been 56mm at the 24th and 42mm or 43mm at the nut. 46mm is closer to the 49mm or so 7 string RG.
  2. Neck Dimensions Width at 24th fret: 56mm Width at nut: 42mm Total fretboard length: 496mm I also have a 1:1 scale (i think) tracing of the headstock i can PM you if you wish. Also, your fretboard widths have alot to do with the bridge, so what are we using?
  3. The things that i found wrong with the guitar: Bullseye is poorly done Incorrect pickups Knobs No les paul truss rod cover Tuners are cheapo's BOLT ON No trapazoid inlays Chinese seller and cheap price Im probably not even scratching the surface.
  4. Mine is almost in that state, more due to the fact that i leave the locking bar it the chuck then go to use it, but im sure having sh*t loads of turning pressure doesn't help either.
  5. Looks great, just a few things. Did you say neck thru? it looks like very long set neck from looking at the back. I cannot say i really dig the pickup covers, though it's different and i have been taught that different can be good or bad, by the looks of them its a good different. Another thing i don't like so much is the contouring where the neck joins the body, but thats more a personal preference thing. The choice of wood is great, they contrast well together, and your fret board is quite nice, as is your headstock. I guess overall it is a nice guitar, most of the things i don't like, others will. Those 12 and 24 fret markers look a little uneven, but my eyes are known to relay bullsh*t to my brain so i could be wrong. How does it play?
  6. It is possible, and a friend has a pine tele body and it sounds fine, i guess you would just need to be careful with it.
  7. That looks and sounds beautiful, congrats on your very successful build!
  8. I now know what you mean, thanks for the better explanation Ok, here is my understanding: Your set neck pocket is short right? How short? For example, the RG's i have have a 70m pocket at the bass side and i bit over 30mm (i think) on the treble. Seeing as its a warrior style guitar (and it is my understanding you have routed the pocket) you could route the pocket so it is longer if the neck allows this. Do you have dimensions of your current pocket and maybe some pictures?
  9. What shape are you building? And how do you mean more wood on one side?
  10. I personally use Autodesk Inventer 10, It is fairly easy to learn the basics and will have you producing 3d guitars in no time. Autodesk Website The problem is that it is over 1gb to install, and can be farely slow to set up and to load unless your computer has a fast HDD and CPU. Also it can be expencive to buy, depending on where it is bought. RGman
  11. hahahaha You have a point. I have some pictures, though some are fairly crap quality. Fat10 that may be dropped into this project. Front Back Dog more Black tele
  12. Looks awesome so far. An idea would be to clamp (or find another way to secure them together) the two sides together and then use various sized drum sanders to get them symetrical.
  13. Yes, i will take pictures when i next update #2's progress in the morning (#1 - fretless set neck telecaster is currently unfinished, all i am waiting for is the bridge and new tuners. Well i have some sort of updates: The wings joined the neck. Tone/Volume holes drilled. Cavity for tone/volume + switch is now drilled. 4.7 mild steel rod aquired for my truss rod. Template for the humbuckers have started to take a form resembling a pup route. Tremelo routing templates started. Sanding has taken place, to what extent this is actually an update i have no clue. Belly contur and arm rest have been carved and sanded. Drum sanding the inner parts of the horns have been completed. Pictures will be posted in about 11 hours.
  14. Looks great so far. Do i spy what i recognise as a Foxtel remote near the cusion?
  15. Shes just a 25.5" scale, does look kinds long though but measures correctly. It is actually fairly light, about the same as most of my RG's, maybe a touch heavier. As for pickups it will depend on what i can afford, maybe EMG 81 and 85. I should have a bit more money to get better parts, seeing as the wood was free.
  16. Well this is one i used to practice e-----------12-15p12--------------------11-14p11------------ b--------13-----------13--------------12------------12-------- g-----14-----------------14--------13------------------13----- d--15-----------------------15--14------------------------14-- a---------------------------------------------------------------- e---------------------------------------------------------------- Basic 4 string pattern, and can be adapted for 3 strings or even 5 or 6 strings with a bit of imagination.
  17. Im not actually sure, though if i do i may do a clear pickguard, though i would like to know what people think in the way of what i could do to make the project better ie. pickguards, hardware/hardware colours etc. These happen to be the cleanest socks i have
  18. Today i started my second guitar, this one being a RG style guitar with a few differences; such as the headstock. The guitar is neck-thru and is made of figured Sapele and a light Sapele. I have no idea what electronics will be put into the guitar as of yet. I guess you can all have some pictures: Here is some pictures showing the ribbon striped figure in the neck: figure1 figure2 The headstock: headstock Additional pics: Front Well thats all for now, i guess you could expect an update once it is glued. 19. I own a cort EVL-K6... Best guitar i have ever played apart from a few gibsons and PRS'
  20. It will be certainly a nice long tennon joint. The size of the heel: if you mean the large ammount of wood that teles have at the bottom of the neck, i will be greatly reducing that.
  21. I just finished cutting my mahagony tele body out a few days ago and have been stuck on the the type of neck to build. I have never seen a set neck tele so i have no real experience with them at all, though i have used the bolt on variety plenty of times. Personally, i love set necks and neck throughs, but i'm not sure what a tele set neck would turn out like and whether it is actually a good idea. Any comments appreciated. Cheers.
  22. It should be ok, but it will break your back in two I would chamber it to get rid of the unwanted weight. I forgot to mention that I'm BLOODY HUUGE!! Yeah, be that as it may, you can do some injury up on stage...
  23. It should be ok, but it will break your back in two I would chamber it to get rid of the unwanted weight.
  24. I don't mind, anything goes, even a tele headstock would help. Cheers for the pic RGGR.
  25. Hi, does anyone possibly have a full sized plan for a fender stratocaster heastock? Cheers.
