  1. I am insanely jealous. That is going to be a BEAUTIFUL guitar.
  2. No Shops "Officially" Build Eddies Guitars anymore But there's still plenty of demand for them Well, actually... If you have money dripping from all your orifices, you may now buy an OFFICIAL Charvel EVH guitar, HAND PAINTED by ol' Eddie VH HIMSELF! I kid you not, just follow the link... http://www.evh-guitars.com/ But OH MY GOD those prices!
  3. WHOA! That thing is intimidating to a hack guitarist like myself. Man, I wish Michael Hedges was alive to see it. He, more than anyone I can think of, would have gotten the most out of that beast. He played like he had six hands anyway!
  4. SWEET axe, and sweet ride. I have been eyeballing those PTs myself, and I gotta ask a question- Will a full stack load into that vehicle? (Full size tube head, two 4x12 cabs) The ability to haul that and several guitar cases, along with decent gas mileage, are my criteria for choosing a vehicle. My 1991 Accord wagon hauls all that very nicely, and I anticipate it lasting another couple of years. BUT, gotta look to the future!
  5. EXCELLENT job matching the original finish. Now I have to ask- HOW did you do that?
  6. Hey that's SWEET! Did the headstock come cut to shape or was it a paddle? I have been wanting to build one of those Saga Teles like yours, but am a little skittish because i don't want to screw up the headstock. And I definitely want a traditional tele-style head on it. Anways, CHEERS! That looks hella nice.
  7. Why can I not help thinking this is going to turn out to be one WICKED machine? Please keep us posted!
  8. Dude- That is one SICK bass! Does it sound anywhere near as incredible as it looks?
  9. Hey-zeus palomino! That is one tasty slab of rosewood. I am dying to see this thing as it develops.
  10. Good luck in building a Stealth copy, my young friend! T'will be a fun and rewarding project for you. I think what some of the other guys were trying to say was that there are a million factors to look at when taking on the project of building/repairing a guitar. As you take on this task, I think you will find this lot to be very helpful as you come up with quagmires in building your beast. You won't find "plans" as such for your specific guitar, but you will be able to find wiring diagrams for whatever layout you go with, tips on how to set up and intonate the bridge of your choice, etc. One thing at a time, though. I would suggest starting with one of the pix of the model at the BC Rich site, and blowing it up by whatever means necessary to full size. Thus you can begin your woodwork, and start asking questions as you hit each roadblock. PLease keep us informed as to how it goes!
  11. Flush mounted straplocks! Genius! I attempted that once in the past and botched it. Any suggestions? The guitar looks really cool. Kind of reminds me of my black Hamer Blitz. Good going!
  12. Being a big fan of the Hamer doublecuts, your guitar naturally inspires a great deal of lust in my heart. That thing is BEAUTIFUL! What kind of bridge is that? It looks like a first cousin to the Hamer sustain block hardtails. That is a superbly finished and detailed guitar.
  13. Soooo... Do you build those on request...?
  14. You old shred-meister you! That is INCREDIBLE! Some of my buddies who worship the Hamer Virtuoso model will be falling hard for this one...
  15. SWEET! How much would you charge to do that to one of my Hamers?
  16. Doesn't one of the Washburn Dimebag Darrell guitars have a very similar finish? I think they call the finish "Dimebolt". Anyway, that will look HELLA cool if you do it!
  17. That piece of wood is SICK! Congratulations on finding it. PUH-LEASE keep us up to date on your use of it!
  18. VERY nice! I am curious about you painting the pickups. What type of paint did you use, and how (alse where) did you do the masking? With your inspiration and illumination, I'll start turning my dreadful black Seymours into some nice cream colored and zebra p'ups!
  19. I have used rattlecan nitro from both StewMac and ReRanch. While StewMac doesn't have the rattlecan selection that ReRanch does, I have found their stuff to be easier to work with and the price is WAY lower. In your case, the selection doesn't matter anyway since you want to use StewMac's readily available clear and black anyway. May your project go smoothly and finish up beautifully!
  20. Gotta say I have always turned my nose up at spalted maple. NO LONGER! That is GORGEOUS! Ironic that it caught fire as you worked on it, because it looks like it's on fire still, yet you did no airbrushed flames or suchlike. I BEG of you to post pics after you lacquer it- that is going to be one spectacularly beautiful Strat-alike. Whatever inspired you to pick up that piece of wood is an instinct you should ALWAYS trust...
  21. HOLY GUACAMOLE! That is bee-yoo-tee-ful! I do hope you'll share the secret of how you did it!
  22. I play standard tuning, but 1/2 step flat. Easier for my less-than-super voice to sing...
  23. I have used both the shielding paint and copper tape from StewMac. They are both excellent products. I prefer working with the copper, but that's just me. I think you would be happy either way.
