  1. I'm a bit in a stretch here...I'd like to vote for southpa just for the simple reason of having his guitar on the front page. Who knows, maybe the guy who stole it thinks he really can make a buck when he sells it, puts it on ebay and sha-bang we have him balls to the wall. Then again, Wes' carved top is so sleek, I get slightly aroused looking at the pics. Lex' custom bass is a sight to behold and...I think I'll waite till last minute with my vote and then flip a coin...a nine-sided coin, that is so long ace
  2. I think you should take a few pics of the axe, particularly the problem spots like the nut and the pickup routes. Think that would be a good base for pointers on what to do with the babe. I'm nearly sure that it's NOT beyond hope, a bad paint job and a loose nut shouldn't be eough for that. Looking forward to seeing this one evolve so long ace
  3. Keep up the great work Huynsu. so long ace
  4. What are you gonna use for the F-holes? I want to build my own PGM (for my 3rd or 4th project...) so long ace
  5. Oooooh that is puuuurdy. Specs are needed so long ace
  6. Thanks for all the advice guys...yeah that extra body sounds quite good but then again I'd switch the pickups anyway as soon as I come by a decent deal on eBay...the machine heads would need to go, too anyway because they're not too tuning stable so it looks like I'd actually keep the bridge and the pickguard and build a new guitar around those two *lol* Seriously, I'll try the acoustic strap thin and experiment with repositioning the strap pin. 8. Hey folks, I have this cheap chinese Telecaster copy, which I really would like to play out more frequently, but aside from the crap tuners and the imperfect fretjob, the thing is really neck heavy and I can't play right when I have to support the neck all the time. How can I balance that thing more...would moving the strap pin bring any remedy? I have a locking strap system so I could put the pin basically everywhere. Southpa already suggested that I carve out a piece of the body and fill it with lead but that's one step I'd rather not take if I could help it. The neck is maple and it is chunky, but since it has a skunk stripe I'd rather noth shave off the neck... so long ace
  9. Agreed, idiots will always find a way around ANY safety measure. But another idea...because you are the only one who is going to use this appliance and you're making all the connections yourself, why not simply go with the following wiring: Ground Tip/+9V | |~~~~ /:------I-----I------| \:------I-----I------| | |~~~~ Signal that way, you'd only have a cycle between +9 and ground in the final position of the plug (plugged in all the way I mean). And Engineering filled heads are a pain sometimes, but after 5 semesters mine has not yet been pressed into shape completely by university (partly because I skip so many classes ) so long ace
  10. don't plug the box into mains before you plug the guitar in...easy, huh? so long ace
  11. What did that guy use for routing that cavity? A caged beaver? so long ace
  12. Hey Vendel, if it's not too much hassle I'd like to see a pic of the back of this babe, especially how you shaped the neck joint (well, if it's 1 piece there is no joint, but you know what I mean...) Because I was thinking about a one-piece construction and was wondering about stability issues. Looks killer from the front tho with the all maple pickguard and stuff. so long ace
  13. Umm, I just thought about this for a minute and the first thing that crossed my mind was "hum interference". I mean, cables are shielded pretty big time from the outside to reduce EM interference and you want to send 9 volts, which is considerably larger than your signal current, through a conductor that is right next to your signal conductor? Are we talking AC or DC here? (Pretty ignorant when it comes to sustainers, I apologize) so long ace
  14. The headstock shows some lack of motivation I think ;-) whatever, if it plays, it's worth being assembled! so long ace who loves all guitars. Including the ugly ones
  15. mhhhh pretty pickguards galore...good link so long ace

Yo Jeff, any idea of how much shipping the OLP Body and Neck to Germany is going to be? What kind of bridge do I need? so long ace
  17. If you are playing off of sheet music and you play outside, bring either clamps or use a piece of acrylic to put over your notes or you'll see them fly. alternatively, put them into a ring book with plastic document covers if you don't have to turn pages mid-song. When doing your own soundcheck use a CD with a song you know and like for doing the PA set up (applies to solo artists like me who only need to adjust master EQ and volume and don't have to care about individual sound ratios). If you don't have anything better handy, a replacement pick can be tucked between the three top strings between the nut (esp. for floyd users, tuning will not be affected). If you drop one mid-song, just reach up to the headstock and grab it. If you use that one too, pull a crazy tapping lick and pray that the song will be over quick ;-) In addition to "bring everything for yourself", if you are like me, you have everything twice, especially leads, strings, guitar straps. Been there, done that. so long ace
  18. I'd say the same, they're hanging like that in the music stores so there shouldn't be too many problems. whatever has enough of an area where the headstock is grabbed to give a safe grip should be fine. so long ace
  19. as long as your guitar is not a highly souhgt model, selling parts brings more money in about 98% of the time. Especially necks go for ridiculous prices sometimes. You could however offer what you have here first ;-) so long ace

  21. The perfect combination in my opinion...boobs and guitars...now all that's missing is a fridge for the beer in that hardcase and you could call it "the ultimate man's survival kit". And the best thing: it's on a STRAT! *sits back and waits for diatribe of epical proportions* so long ace

    Picks?

Dunlop Yngwie Signature (1.5 mm standard shape) Recently more Ibanez Paul Gilbert Signature (1 or 1.2 mm, sharp) Jazz II and III actually a dangerous combination, 'specially on my acoustic, sharp-edged heavy picks, light strings, and woodchopper attack... so long ace

    NAMM

I don't know, the drop shadow is a cool idea normally, but being that the flames are so AGAINST the texture of the silver paint, it just looks wrong to my eye, if you know what I mean so long ace
