  1. And let's not forget Wes......BTW where have you been Wes? You've been awful quiet for a week or two. Did I miss something?
  2. Those looked like Bartolini's but I wasn't sure. I bet it sounds great! I love them Bart's!!!
  3. Hi hyunsu! Your work always impresses me....you make it look so easy. Did you use the router while the top was flat to get your depth and then use the spoke shave for the angle? It's hard to tell from the pics which you did first......
  4. Very Nice work! What brand pickups did you use? I see you have an active preamp - what brand? The top looks nice. I also like the neck joint....it looks very stable. I'd like to hear more details. Unfortunately, I don't speak Italian but your English seems pretty good.
  5. Well, I have one of these: SL3 Soloist just sitting here waiting for a guitar player to take home and whip.....the one I have is Amber Burst. PM if you're interested. Stomp boxes.....you'll have to talk to one of the many guitar players here for that. I'm just a simple bass player that uses one pedal......a TU-2 tuner. My Ampeg does the talking from there
  6. Excellent work! I love the sound.....very nice!
  7. I would also recommend buyinmg one, they are dirt cheap on ebay. If you want just a neck drop me a PM and I'll see what I can do. My distributor can't give the 210's away and I can probably get a neck cheap for you.
  8. I second that! Bart's are the best sounding off the shelf p'ups IMO. I don't know a bass player that ever regretted using them. I have several basses with EMG's in them and I love them, but the Bartolini warmth and depth is something you'll never grow tired of hearing.
  9. Perry, you were nom'd on 2-28 at 5pm......Kevan closed the thread on 3-4 at 11pm.......that's a lot longer than 3 hours, in fact that's 4 days and some change. Nothing personal. just get the facts straight before blasting PG again and again.
  10. You can put hum's in a single spot....buy stacked hum's. They are true hum's in a single coil size pack. I have some here in a box in my shop but don't recall the brand offhand. I can look if you want.....or ask Scott Rosenberger.....I'm sure he'll have the brand and model.
  11. I tape off the board and use 600 grit to sand/polish it off. It's not the fastest method but it keeps from creating sharp edges that can chip off when using the exacto knife method. You also aren't left with any "speed bumps" from the knife creating an edge on the lacquer.
  12. Anthony is an honest guy and described this guitar perfectly. It arrived today and is EXACTLY as described.......except it plays BETTER than he let on! I can't believe you let this guitar go....Thanks again!!
  13. They actually sound pretty good IMO.......they just weigh a TON!!! I've had a couple of them run through for sale and my guess on weight would be over 15 pounds easily. One was even heavier than my Les Paul bass......that's heavy!
  14. I'm surprised all the entries weren't a tie.....definitely a class line up this past month! Congrat's to all who entered......great work!
  15. Great work once again Phil. Keep on going.....you're giving me more inspiration to start on mine. The lumber is staring at me every day and begging to be carved up! I just need to dig up a few more bucks for the LightWave......I bought a Cirrus this weekend and that put a crunch on my project $$$ until one of my Ric's sell, so for now I'll have to build vicariously through you
  16. Well, I sure didn't expect my name to pop up..... I appreciate it. Even though I am probably a 2 on a scale of 1-10 on building knowledge compared to most here I do now have the time to mod if you guys choose. I quit my day job and will be working from home full time now.....which translates to sitting on the computer and getting paid. I won't be the font of knowledge the other mods are but after a few lessons from Brian, Wes and Kev I could help keep PG on the level. Edit: Oh, and I think I meet the age requirement too.....
  17. 1. All four (tough question!) 2. 5, 4, 3, 2 3. a 4. little to none 5. b 6. like.....the people that work there dislike.....lack of decent brands/instruments (they carry mostly low end stuff - I want the pricer/higher quality stuff) 7. guitar players..............should I elaborate? OK, guitar players that feel they need to play at 11 in the shop on every guitar so everyone knows they are the next vai or satch.....(yeah, right) 8. I'd prefer to buy in a shop but the selection is limited so I buy mostly online.
  18. I'm almost sure I have an MM Jazz bass body here in my shop........PM me if you want me to look for it.
  19. I've done that several times....it's one of the listing features I hate about ebay. If you "copy/paste" listings and forget to change the format you get what you got! Every time I have done it I contacted the buyer and explained the situation and they have all been understanding and let me cancel the purchase via mutual agreement. Drop him an email and explain....you may be surprised how understanding people are.
  20. Cedar.....use it for a nice acoustic top or two. Has a beautiful look and a nice sound to my ears on acoustic guitars. I've never heard it on a solid body but I have seen a few pics of them on the web. Oak....build a table, floor or use it in the fireplace.
  21. OMG!! This is the hardest month yet! I looked at them about 5 times and mulled over it for hours before I could even TRY to vote. This is by far the best group of instruments I've seen on GOTM at one time. The double got my vote. I usually go for the bass but I couldn't this time even though it is more than deserving. I feel bad for having to pick just one....how about a selection for "All of the Above" BTW....explain the name "Nanda Devi"......
  22. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ All the tube amps I've seen have fans in them.....like Wes said, it keeps them cool. I sure wouldn't want 2-5 tubes in a cabinet cooking at 250+ degrees for long! If they did keep working (and not cook themselves) for more than a half hour the fire would follow soon.....The Marshall tube amps I'm familiar with are hot even WITH a fan. I have added fans to friends cabs to keep them cooler yet. Radio Shack specials for $9.99 work great. My Ampeg has a fan in it but once I turn up the volume I never even know it's there
  23. 1. Epiphone (don't even start!) 2. Yes, I own 5 guitars and 10 basses (personally own....doesn't count store inventory....that's a lot more) 3. 3 1960's Teisco guitars, Willie Nelson Epi Classical guitar, Epi Baxter acoustic electric guitar, '69 Bartell bass, '77 Rickenbacker 4001 bass, '80 Rickenbacker fretless 4001 bass, MusicMan 4 bass, Epi EB3 Elite bass, Epi Les Paul Vinnie Hornsby bass, Dean Rhapsody 8 string bass, P bass (I made), Jazz bass (I made), Michael Kelley Dragonfly4 acoustic electric bass, and I'm sure I missed some but that's what I can see in my studio at the moment. 4. Local stores, ebay, distributors, all over..... 5. Les Paul Bass 6. Yes, 4 of them but I'll use my main rig for the next few questions. 7. Ampeg SVT3PRO 8. 300/450 (8 ohms/4 ohms) 9. 3 years when I was younger and 3 years now. 10. 5 on bass and 2 on guitar (too many strings on a guitar )
  24. Good points GM but his question was mic'ing to a PA for live gigs, that's why I recommended the PG52. It's specifically designed for kick drums and bass amps and the bonus is that it's built like a tank for those "oops" moments when setting up, taking down or running into when getting carried away on stage.....not that that ever happens!
  25. For a bass amp I prefer the Shure PG52 PG52 It's designed for a kick or bass amp. I use it and find it gives better clarity than a 57 IMO. Look on ebay....you can find them new for under $100.
