  1. Fantastic work man, congratulations !
  2. Well, here is my contribution to the GOTM concourse. She is a headless travel guitar with full scale neck and built in effect. The body has the controls in a centered and simetrical position because I´m righty but my older child is lefty and in this way the guitar can be easily changed to be played for him in the future. The complete project include the guitar, a little DIY clone of the Marshall MS-2 Amp, the battery charger and the DIY custom case. I finished this little baby last month and I was not sure about participate with her but my older child convinced me. He named her ¨Little Rocker¨, the specifications are : - Body : Mahogany with a jacaranda strip in the middle. - Neck : bolt on headless maple neck with rosewood fingerboard. - Fret markers : dots. - Scale : full 25.5 inches scale with 24 frets. - DIY Headpiece. - HardTail bridge. - DIY Tuners. - Pickups : Two GFS Hex humbuckers. - Electronics : built in DIY SansAmp GT2 pedal with rechargeable 9V Battery and DIY charger circuit. - Controls in the front : one toggle switch to select pickups, two volumes and effect ON/OFF switch. - Controls In the back : GT2 pots and switches with mahogany/jacaranda cover. She´s extremely quiet, and plays really well. The balance is very good if you play standing and is very confortable to play seated too. I´m very satisfied with the results, hope you like her. 3. I like it, good work ! But I have to agree with Xanthus, I´d paint the headstock black too.
  4. Congratulations, fantastic work ! Your new guitar is really beautiful !
  5. Is your first guitar and is good that you can design, build and finish your projects. But I have some advices for your guitar : 1) Isolate your control cavity and connect it to ground. 2) Avoid the ground loops connecting all the grounds forming a star and only one wire from this star to the ground of the output connector. In this way your guitar will be very quiet.
  6. Congratulations, the Tele looks great ! It took some time because the problem that you found with the neck, but the result is excellent.
  7. Good job ! The new enclosure for the TT is beautiful and the cab is nice too ! Where you obtain the tolex for them ? Has the cab wheels ? Last weekend I was working in a 2x12 cab for my Line6 Spider, I´ll show the pics soon.
  8. Good job friend ! Congrats ! More pics ?
  9. Hi Kiki and thanks That´s true, at least in my case...
  10. Hi, good job ! Glad to hear that you enjoyed your Sunday I spent yesterday morning watching the Tennis Davis Cup on TV and then with my family. About the guitar, will you fill the pickups holes with wood and re-route them or use a pickguard like now ?
  11. The natural finish is really beautiful ! Congrats !
  12. Thank you Dudz ! You are very young, like my oldest son ! Use this site to learn, practice with scrap wood, project every part of your future guitar and go for her ! If the first one is not the best, don´t worry, you can make another one, learning a lot in the process and having fun too !
  13. What a beautiful wood ! If you think that the other top is ugly or don´t know what to do with it, I can send you my address...
  14. I applied the first six coats using a paint brush, sanding between coats. Then I applied eight or ten (I can´t remember) coats using a little ball made of cloth fabric (I don´t know what´s the name...). Like the old fashioned furniture makers use to finish their work. I don´t know about other flooring products, but this one can be used to finish furniture. A friend uses it without problems since about five years. It´s not cheap, the price is the double than nitro... but it´s easy to use. I think the next build will use nitro, I have to test it and my father has spray equipment to use... The guitar really fits very tight into the case when it´s close but your suggestion is good. I have material to make an aditional piece, so I´ll do it. Thanks for the idea Anderekel !
  15. Hi, I´ve mounted the humbuckers directly to the body in my recently finished travel guitar. My DIY solution was : 1) Cut a piece of metal (the lengh of the pick up). Make two very small holes at the extremes in the same place that the PU have the fixation holes. Make another bigger hole in the centre of the piece (I´ve made two but one is enough). Paint the metal in black. 2) Attach the piece of metal to the body using the centre hole and a regular wood screw. 3) Glue a piece of rubber foam to this metal (the foam is used like a spring to adjust the PU´s height. 4) Fix the PUs with small screws (these screws pass through the pickup hole without damaged it) to the piece of metal. In this way the PUs remains original, without any damage and you can change them when you want. See this pic to clarify : Hope that helps.
  16. Yesterday´s morning I took some pics of the complete set :
  17. Thank you brother, I really appreciate your comments. About the pickups, I´m thinking about this possibility for a future build, maybe the second or third one. Regarding the color, I choose the natural finish because I´m very conservative but maybe I have to have more courage next time... The finished I used was a strong floor satin lacker (Cetol brand). It was very easy to apply and is very resistant.
