Dragon Body Guitar

Recommended Posts

Hi folks.

I have been lurking arouind again and watching all of the great new works that have been popping up with Frenzy's tutorial, trials and tribulations of Jehle's V and such that I wanted to get aome feed back on this guitar body:

THe body is entirely flame maple and looking to do a golden teal or blue transparent to it.

LEt me know what you folks think!

25 1/2 scale with a fixed TOM bridge. HAven't decided on the PUPs yet but definitely passive.

Working on the neck to create a dragon 3 X 3 peghead as seen from the top.

P.S. the Dice guitar is in its last coats of clear and will be polished out soon!

Great carning that guitar is looking amazing. Normaly themed guitars can look a bit tacky but this one looks great. Its a hard thing to do good but you seem to have done it pretty well.

What is the neck joint? What tailpiece are you using?

Cant wait to see this finished. That bottom horn (foot) looks like you spent alot of time carving. You have given the guitar greatr detail.

Ok, my .02.

I love Dragons, I got quite a few floating in and around the house, so yes, I love your guitar... I woul go withthe TOM like you suggested, but with string thru like the Carvin's so that you don't loose detail to the stop piece. And on the pickups, I will do active EMG, just to get somebody like Jeremyto airbrush the contours of the dragon and make the pup dissapear! I would painted like a dragon, since you went with a medieval dragon, I would use green and yellow, like this guitar from warmoth,

I always called this dragon burst, and amazingly warmoth call it the same! Please keep us updated on the progress of this beast, I'm definately waiting to see it finished.

Thanks to all for the comps! B)

Coming from you Wes, that means a great deal!

The body was done with chisels, dremel tool, knife and sandpaper.

Here is the tail piece only it is black chrome;

That dragon's head is what my original concept was going to be but I couldn't seem to get the concept right to my liking so I decided to do this one instead!

The neck joint is a standard 4 bolt strat neck pocket with a 3 degree slant for the bridge.

Will try and get together more pictures as it gets finished out.

Oh okay, but nevertheless, it will look awesome, and probably sound awesome too!

By the way, aren't you afraid the guitar will sound too bright with all the maple? What pickups are you going to use? Tonezone maybe? I'd definately go for pups with much low end :D

first, let me say that that is a great looking guitar! I really can't wait to see it completed.

and for the tailpiece, i dont see a real problem with it, as long as that's what dragyn wants (and he already has it anyways). you shouldn't forget that it is a guitar, too, not just a great carving
