Fwank71
Hi all. I am currently in the middle of building and painting my own "custom Ibanez" JPM. I will be including pictures of the build and paint as it progresses. Please ad your feedback, pro and con, as I would be interested in reading it. Im sure some of you will like the build and color choice and some will not. Also, feel free to ask any questions you have and I will try to answer them all. Thanks Ok, first set of pics shows the bare Alder body with some filler to smooth out any imperfections in the wood and to fix a couple of dings made when I dropped it. (yea, I said I dropped it,.. dont ask http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a338/Fwank71/DSC00835.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a338/Fwank71/DSC00836.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a338/Fwank71/DSC00837.jpg OK, in these next set of pics, you can see the body has been primed with filling sandable primer and block sanded down smooth so it is ready to accept the coat of sealer. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a338/Fwank71/DSC00840.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a338/Fwank71/DSC00838.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a338/Fwank71/DSC00841.jpg OK, here is a pic of the Wizzard II headstock cleared (but not yet buffed) with my "custom" logo. When I get the mony I want to have a reproduction JPM neck made. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a338/Fwank71/DSC00846.jpg I will be finishing it in House of Kolor Orion silver and applying a heavy metal flake in hopes to achieve a finish very similar to this M.M. finish. (I borrowed this image from an Eb*y auction) http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a338/Fwank71/ss4.jpg OK, the finish will be going on in a couple of weeks, so I will update then. Thanks Frank Edited June 30, 2005 by Fwank71

ThePlague
quick question: when you say you're trying to get a finish similar to that ebmm, you mean you're doing a solid color finish like that on your jpm? (as in, no picasso graphic) i'm looking forward to pics as well.

Fwank71
Thanks for getting the pics to work! I will be undertaking a few JPM projects this summer(hopefully) I plan on doing three, with one of them being a Picasso graphic. But instead of using stickers, i will be using paint for the graphic. The first finish will be the sick sparkle you see above. Please feel free to ask any questions. I will post again soon with the progress. ROCKETROB
That metal flake is unbelievable! You'll have to pass out sunglasses to everyone close to the stage. Nice routing on the cavities very clean. Rob
Opencan
how did you made thoes metal flakes? that thing is owesome, i wanna do it on my upcoming project as a base layer for my color so it will shine a bit
i-j-c
I love that finish...but as the post above...how did you do it? The way the light reflects from the flakes gives it a kind of hologram look... Nice work...

I'm glad people seem to like it. The flakes are House of Kolor coarse rainbow flake. After the base color was sprayed, I added the flakes to the clear and sprayed three coats. After that I applied three coats of regular clear on top of the flaked clear and that was it. Actually, the pictues dont do it justice as the body is really shimmery! I will try to take some pictures out in the sunlight to really show it off.
