Drak
What would you do with these boards?
Drak
How about this? This is before I carved the top, btw. Top is 95% done now.
Setch
Hmm, gotta disagree. I would have wrapped them in 1/2" of corrugated cardboard, boxed them, and shipped them to: Mr. Setch London, U.K. But, you did OK with your approach
johnsilver
What would you do with these boards? ← P*** my pants. I wouldn't know what to do with those. Glad they are in your hands. Can't wait to see the result.
Drak
I would have wrapped them in 1/2" of corrugated cardboard, boxed them, and shipped them to: Mr. Setch London, U.K. I liked that one! The boards were only about 3/8" thick, so the carve is not steep, but it works perfect for what I had in mind: 1. This guitar body shape looks totally stupid with a flat top on it, it HAS to have a carved top, even a LITTLE, then it looks fine. 2. I'm going to do a Floyd on it, and I don't like Floyd's on high-arched guitars. So really, it works out just right. This is what it looks like now. The pic doesn't show the carved top or the accents very well, but they're there, and I'm not quite done with it yet.

Drak
Thank you Derek. This is another one that has a taller top, and will be a TOM.
Setch
Really, very, very nice. Without the carve the shape looks like a woman with no waist, but once the carve goes on it's a corker! p.s. All you folks rushing to mail me free quilt, PM me for a full address. I can't guarantee any parcels addressed to Mr. Setch will arrive safely. bigdguitars
egdeltar, Go look up durawoods on ebay. I found him about a year ago. He has nice stuff at very very cheap prices. I can't find anything listed for him right now but his stuff can't be beat. -Derek

Drak
Derek, there's no finish on them yet, it was just water for the pics. When the dyes hit these babies, ... . And I Think I like The Design But Im not sure Yet That's understandable Matt, because it is a geezer metal design. Designed more for the 40-year-old metalhead than the 20-year-old, hehehe.. Actually, that body shape I stole from the Jerry Garcia guitars, but not so wolf-eared as his were, more sorta 'rocket-from-the-crypt' thang. whoofnagle
Drak, Your choice in wood continues to amaze me. While I am not partial to the design, I am amazed at the quality of wood and work that you continue to produce. Bill
Drak
Thank you Bill. I don't think WOD will even get a sniffin' of these.

Drak
Hmmmm, no 'theme' in particular, just a nice sunbursted top, haven't decided on the colors yet. 1 will be a Floyd, the other a TOM...besides that, I'm as much in the dark as to how they'll finally look as you are. Digideus
ooooooo (picks up jaw) I would have done a V. The quilt pattern on your original post had a v thing going on already, but I want to see this finished. hit the dyes man and post them pics
Drak
Well actually, since I had Mother Maple sawn up a few weeks ago, I am going to use a pair of her tops for a V, she has better figure than this one shown, so there is a highly figured quilted maple V in the works. duo2
I didn't like the body shape at all until I saw the picture with the carve and now I think I'm falling in love with this design. Sick quilt by the way. If they were mine I wouldn't take dye anywhere near these ones but to each his own. Good luck with the rest of the project.
