possum1284 Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 hi recently acquired a prs standard 24 with a cracked neck. by the way its a set neck. the guy i got it from fixed it himself( did a bad job put so much glue the truss rod doesnt adjust anymore). so what are my options. i was thinking i could remove the frett board and fix the truss rod. What do reccomend as far as the neck actually being cracked? id love to just get a new neck. Anyone know where i cam purchas a set neck or have any repair ideas? thanks, Adam Quote
Fanatic1 Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 How much did you pay? maybe to try to get back your money its a better option than fix it. Quote
Guitarfrenzy Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 Is there a way you can take a picture of the cracked area? That's about the only way we can help. Quote
custom22 Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 you cannot get replacement necks for PRS guitars, (unless you steal one that theyve sawn in half). I'll be going to the factory in a week or two, so maybe i'll find one laying around Quote
Setch Posted February 15, 2006 Report Posted February 15, 2006 Post pics, and don't touch *anything* until you've had a number of responses from experienced users. You may well be able to get the trussrod working without any structural work, and if the neck repair is otherie sound you can leave it alone. Quote
jay5 Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 Take it to a trained luthier. Thats too $$ guitar to try your first repair on. Quote
