jpm_soontobe
hey! i was having an idea of taking an old guitar like that <<<, stripping it down to the wood, nd painting it black again and putting these graphics on it... now this might be asking for TOO much, but can any one give tips on painting the body black again? and then the clearcoating process? thanks for any help Edited August 1, 2006 by jpm_soontobe
thegarehanman
You could just buy the graphic from here , and stick it to the existing guitar. peace, russ
verhoevenc
I'd then put some clear over that so there's no edge, etc. but sweet idea! Chris I'd then put some clear over that so there's no edge, etc. but sweet idea! Chris
thegarehanman
I don't think it'd be wise to clear over those graphics. They're glossy, so I dont' know that the clear would stick. Also, it would take a lot(and I do mean a lot) of clear coat to make that edge disappear.
ibanez_crazy
It does take a lot....9 thick coats of eurethane and a lot of wetsanding, but it holds ok to the decal. The first guitar I modded was a RG to JPM finish, and a trem cavity route to fit a lo-trs trem. That was 2 years ago and no problems so far
al heeley
Can I ask why on earth you would want to sand all that black paint off in order to paint it black again then add some graphics? Do it once, you'll realise what an awful task it is!
jpm_soontobe
yeah i guess ur right, but the only other problem is that the body is a bit smaller so the graphics might not fit
