eddiewarlock
Ok here it is, i thought i´d a diff thread for this one, the neck is laminated santos mahogany and purpleheart, the wings are true mahogany, and it has a bound quebracho fretboard, 24 frets, 20" radius, as you can see in the mockup, it will have a hardtail bridge and a single bridge pickup which, for now will be an IBanez V8-7 ( i hate those) but no money for an EMG

jammy
Looking great so far! Well done With regards to the pickup though - save up and buy an EMG, it'll save re-routing for it when you do get it (as they don't just drop in normal pickup routes)

eddiewarlock
i love this build. cant wait to see it completed. any ideas on a finish? natural mabye? Nope...it´s gonna be white...but i´ll leave the neck natural...i origianlly wanted a quilted maple top for it and finish it on a color like Jackson´s chlorine and leave a fake binding a la PRS, but the maple tops i found were horribly expensive, even the veneers, so well, white it´s gonna be... yahilltrade
sounds awsome. i love white guitars. but they look really nasty after i play shows with them. sweaty they get.

eddiewarlock
dude, now i dont know what color to finish it...i thought painting it white will make it look like regularn production ibanez..
yahilltrade
yeah i know what your saying.....you want it to jump.....hmmmmmmm i think a good old fashion tobbaco burst would look sick. or mabye a crazy two tone burst. just an idea. eddiewarlock
naw, the top of the guitar isnt perfect, inm fct i had to fill some parts with cyanocrilate...if i had a quilted maple veneer i wouldn't think it twice and it´d be painted a turquoise color... RGGR
For quilted maple check out www.3dhardwoods.com. His thin bookmatched sets are very reasonable priced.
westhemann
well, production ibanez guitars have all sorts of fgigured tops...the only way to really get away from what they are already doing is with some sort of graphics or an off the wall paint job...maybe one of those color shifting high end auto style paint jobs?the kind where it looks a different color every time you move it? or a caramel colored basecoat covered with a translucent amber?red with translucent black topcoat? just think really hard about it...let your imagination run free... marksound
How about a bass boat flake like this with white pearl stuff?
eddiewarlock
I had thought of glueing some Dragon Ball Z pictures my little brother printed a while ago, i donñt like Dragon Ball at all, but it would make the guitardifferent, then clear coating on top of the pictures...just an idea... eddiewarlock
Check out this ebay store [url=http://stores.ebay.com/Fraser-Valley-Fine-Woods] Has some nice sets at a decent penny. Forgot to add nice work..... Oh them...their shipping costs to anywhere outside the USA or Canada are horrible...and usually shipping to south america is more expensive than shipping to aussie, i asked th other day how much the shipping for a set to Venezuela was and they told me something like 70$...they do have good prices and nice sets, if you live in the USA that´s it thanks for the link anyways
ibnaz5150
I hear ya.the shipping cost is as much as some of the sets....however the price & shipping combined is still a good deal. I picked up a few spalt sets and a flame set recently....gonna need some help when I get to that! Never bent wood before...depending on how involved it is, risk and what not I may just skip the arm rest.
eddiewarlock
I´d love to get a spalted maple set for a Jerzy Drozd bass and a quilted maple one for a SLP mockingbird...
ibnaz5150
Here's a peak at my spalt sets... spalt top
UNIT
how about ...... ivory/black multi bound body, gold harware and royal blue in satin/matt finish that would look ace but spalt tops do look sexy with a burst
eddiewarlock
I did think about royal blue or candy apple red...i dunno what color to paint it, seems like unless i do a graphic on the guitar it will look like a regular Ibanez...if i liked Ibanez that´d be ok but i only like the RG model... Robert_the_damned
how about doing the top white and just doing an oil or clear coated back and neck? I think that would look pretty slick
eddiewarlock
I thought about painting the top white and leaving the rest natural
