Ave!

Hi, my name is Juan Pablo, you can tell me Illa666 hehe, i'm 15 years old and i am from Mexico.

Me and my friend Baltasar are building an Annihilator guitar, like some people in here have already done.

We started today (january 29) and we got the body, not yet detailed., but here it is, we baptized this as Project Annihilator 666.

hope you like it.

thanks to The Misfits and to Deadmike for inspiring us to make this guitar.

Pd: I know that the body still looks fat, we will fix it.

Bienvenido, JP. Yo vive en Torreon, Coah (La Laguna!) por dos anyos... arriba Santos!

I'm not sure what to say except, "ouch!" as well! But I'm a boring old fart, so don't mind me. Best of luck and welcome again!

theres nothing wrong with going out on a limb and doing something different, but you should really think about comfort and balance when designing a guitar... this thing may look cool with a neck on it, but i bet it'll be quite awkward to play, standing or sitting...

+1. If its a stage guitar it's one thing but as an everyday guitar? I can't imagine.

Regardless, welcome and I wish you success!

Regards,

Rob

As long as he keeps his codpiece and thigh high boots on, he should be fine.

looks like a scorpion to me....or that little, ear crawling critter from "The Wrath of Khan"

What are the chances of that, the very same thing went through my mind too.

Good luck Juan, keep up the good work. Where about's in Mexico are you? I've not seen either of my Mexican mates (well sort of Mexican) for a couple of weeks now, so no doubt they'll be around soon to drink my beer, I'll ask them if they know it.

the neck is gonna drop like pee wee herman if he was punched by mike tyson...

all your weight is at the neck end of the body...the reason guitars are always heavier further from the neck is to counter for the neck weight....

the ONLY way that guitar would ever be playable in a standing position is if you run the strap all the way to the headstock...like an acoustic strap

:D hahahahaha.....sort of Mexican?

Sort of Mexican in the same way that I'm sort of English. Well Ok, a bit different to that. They were born in Mexico (they're brothers BTW) but orphaned fairly young. They were then adopted by an English couple and now they live in my village. One looks like Roberto Carlos and the other is a spitting image of a young Mike Tyson (funny you should mention that Wes).

I don't see how the weight is at the neck. The neck is not heavy; at least not the ones I've dealt with. I'm sure even in this design the body is going to be much heavier than the neck. In order to have a heavy neck drop there would have to be an ample weight on the headstock; several pounds.

just my thought

Ave!

Hi, we worked on the 666 (the guitar hehe) like 6 hours yesterday, specially on symmetry, but it is nor thet "perfect" yet.

today we didn't worked a lot, but we have 3 pictures, it looks better than the first ones i showed you.

I'm from Mexico City (Distrito Federal) for those that asked, so, here it is the BATMAN XD

i could be wrong but the neck doesnt need to be heavier than the body

think of it as a see saw

if the strap buttons are to far back (or in this case in the normal postion)

the neck out weighs the body as its longer

Perhaps it's a torque thing. The tuners aren't that heavy, put at the end of a rod about 14" from the pivot point (upper strap button), they may "seem" heavy because of the length of the neck.

Ave!

Yesterday que took the neck off a guitar that i have, an Ibanez, to use it as a mold for the guitar, we want to buy this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Paddlehead-25-5-guitar...VQQcmdZViewItem

what do you think?, we are thinking also to buy an EMG humbucker, to get a real metal tone and to get a good distortion, what can be other choices for pickups?

please tell me your opinions.

That body looks ENORMOUS! I honestly can't think straight looking at it; but it's a cool shape *I pinch on the overkill side but...*

I personally dig Duncan JB/59 pickups, and EMG HZ/H4's *and they're "cheap"*

You know, I think Doeringer is a user on here... I haven't dealt with them but the work looks damn clean especially for the price.

They sell neck blanks too though, if you'd prefer that, cause they're a ton cheaper.
