Hammered
Ahh, this must be one of the projects you mentioned to me on the WW Forums... hope you get it done in time. Looks magnificent, from the little of it I've seen! Can't wait to see the whole thing finished.
AprilEthereal777
This is looking awesome......"tip the hat"!!!!! One question, how can a metal build be TOO metal??? Ain't possible!!! \m/ That inlay work is absolutely sensational, reeks of what it's all about..........METAL!!!!
Hammered
Hey Perry! What's happening with this one? Any more progress since September? I know I'm not the only one hanging to see the finished article.
PTU 7's.
Give Perry some time, I think he'll post some awesome update in some days.
rhoads56
Im actually working on this one today... Body now routed, bevels later today probably.
PTU 7's.
That's a very very very metal shape, Perry.
Xanthus
Oooh, it's almost TOO metal. Perry, if you've got any of that virgin blood left over, why not finish this guitar with it? It'll definitely push the build into the "EXTREME" category, as far as \m/ goes
GregP
I know you're going to pull something awesome off, but I don't prefer the body shape, so far. Your finished products are so sick, though, that my mind might well be changed as it progresses.

Bevels cut, controls and pickups routed. No camera at work though

No camera at work though Plain ol' black he says, yeah I don't think you do much that looks plain my friend And Greg I wouldn't worry, even if the finish doesn't change your mind, when he tightens the final string and suddenly Satan materializes, I think you'll be impressed. rhoads56
... a project that is fast approaching! Wes, did we discuss the binding idea?
jmrentis
OH NO! Are we to bear witness to Wes-Ormsby or Wermsby in the near future? I don't even know if my graphics card can handle that much evil metalness, may have to upgrade.
rhoads56
no need to upgrade, images will be downloaded into your brain while you have nightmares about the evil guitars and the things they do...
westhemann
No ,we have not discussed binding, but I am interested in it.

G-Axe
I'd love to see that finished in a nice pastel pink, with Hello Kitty decals all over it. Not that I tend that way myself, but I can't help but feel you can only be so metal before you're beginning to seriously overcompensate for something. Seriously though, that's shaping up to be something pretty special. That inlay work is amazing. Edited November 15, 2007 by G-Axe
rhoads56
Man wicked design combo I was under the impression the 'gills' came from a third guitar, looks like that in the photoshop i have.
Hammered
Looks like a challenging body shape to build. Do you have a method for finishing around those 'gills'? Based on the drawn lines, the bevel is only going to be slight?
GregP
Perry, I didn't mean that you'd necessarily do some fancy staining or custom paint (like the WOMD); just that you'd choose or approve (if it's the customer's decision) the right finish for the job and pull it off the way it deserves. Solid black seems like a good choice, whoever's decision that was.
rhoads56
Spoke to the client, as usual before it goes to paint. Definately going with black body and head, and clear on the neck shaft. I wanna do blood drips damnit Bevels. This is a rough carve, to get the clients approval (rather than go too deep and then regret it!). Will clean it up when i start the final sand, which will be next week. !!METAL MATT!!
buffing the gills out is really going to suck
rhoads56
buffing the gills out is really going to suck Why? I have numerous different sized foam buffing pads, in all different sizes. Anyway, i'll just make sure i get it good enough off the spray gun so they dont really need buffing.
