j. pierce
You can get smaller pots, if it's just the backside of the pot that's an issue. I use 16MM in most of pedal builds, and I just got some Alpha brand pots that are 12MM so I can cram a Big Muff in a real small space. Either one of those could probably fit in the back with no problem. Use a smaller knob (tele style instead of a speed knob, for instance) to clear the trem on the outside of the guitar if necessary, and you should be all set. You may need to plug and re-drill that hole, (as those pots use a slightly smaller size hole) but it would be hidden entirely by the knob. ngaa
Well it's not the pot that is the problem, it would be the knob that would hit the whammy bar or something. I think I will just put the killswitch there instead of a knob/pot.
ngaa
yeah, lots done since the last update, pickups routed and floyd cavity completely done. Also the arm contour.
Telesque
Is it just me, or does that trem cavity seem like it goes reeeally far back away from the end of the locking allen screws?
ngaa
yeah, I guess it was meant for an OFR, but it's still okay.
Xanthus
What was the decision to go with EMG Select pickups?
ngaa
What was the decision to go with EMG Select pickups? I don't have much money, and my other real EMG's are single coil; which I will probably use sometime on another guitar. Perhaps if I do a JEM with H/S/H. Could always swap out to real emg's at a later date anyway.
ngaa
Yup, but if they sound good then I will stick with them probably. Only difference between select and EMG humbuckers is the output, and it's not much lower.
killemall8
looking excellent. you sure got the hang of it a lot faster than i did. my first good build wasnt until last summer, 2 years after i started building.

ngaa
Progress, go to use a fret bender and fret press for this guitar. (took off about 1-2 hours of fret work!). Inlays also done, doing side dots after I get the frets flush with the fretboard. http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa98/lo...ar/IMG00141.jpg Output jack hole; http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa98/lo...ar/IMG00142.jpg

customguitar
Do you only us a rasp when shaping your necks? (just gathering different peoples opinions/ways of doing things for my build)
ngaa
I think I used a rasp, some random files, and some scrapers as well.
Maurits
Do you only us a rasp when shaping your necks? (just gathering different peoples opinions/ways of doing things for my build) What I do is use rasps at the headstock end and the heel end, when those parts are at the required shape you join the two pieces with a spokeshave/drawknife/etc.

ngaa
Some fool in our woodshop class lost toe spokeshave so we couldn't use that.. Oh well I think I prefer the rasp and random files better
Maurits
I reckon there's no real wrong way, whichever works for you is good.

ngaa
Some updates. Only a few holes to drill on the body (about 34) And then I can send it off to my friends house so his dad can do the spraying. http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa98/lo...ar/IMG00167.jpg http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa98/lo...ar/IMG00168.jpg http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa98/lo...ar/IMG00169.jpg http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa98/lo...ar/IMG00170.jpg http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa98/lo...ar/IMG00171.jpg
