cpsmaxima
Hello again everyone! It's been a while. About 2 months ago I finally resumed working on my first guitar build. It's a LP copy. I figure if it plays and looks well enough I will use it in my Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute Band, if not... A nice wall decoration. I am pleased with the way it is coming out so far. I know it's far from perfect, but for me (no real wood working skills) it's looking good. I do have some mistakes to try and fix though. So, here's the plan... Top: Tiger Eye (Burst) Quilted Maple Center: Black (Stained) African Mahogany Back: Tiger Eye (Burst) Flame Maple Neck: Tiger Eye (Stained) Flame Maple Finger board: Ebony with Gold MOP inlays and side dots Bindings: Amber (Stained) Flame Maple Head Plate: Ebony with Gold MOP inlay logo Pick up Rings: Ebony Gold Hardware and Fret Wire Here's the build pics so far... let me know what you think. http://s118.photobucket.com/albums/o103/cp...20LP/?start=all Thanks... Bassisgreat
Looks great! Nice work. BUT! Why did you put a Gibson logo on it?

anderekel
Looks like an awesome build to me, but I also have to question why you put the gibson logo on it. It's not a gibson, it would be illegal to sell it as such, assuming you made it well it could be better than a gibson, and it looks like you did, and being that it appears to be very well made, why wouldn't you want to show off your ability with your logo? cpsmaxima
Thanks to all for the nice complements. The reason I used the logo was for my Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band "Freebird" (based out of AZ). My Character (Gary Rossington) is known for playing his Gibby LP's. So I put it on there to help keep it true to my stage appearances while being able to play my own custom built guitar. Kinda cool I think. This guitar means a lot to me so I don't have any intentions of selling it. Besides... If I REALLY want to, I can always sand down the head plate and make a new one. Thanks again Chris

Hector
i think you should remove the gibson logo and put your name on it. be proud of your work. just because, this guitar might be cooler than any gibson. nice one!!

MAGGOTBRAIN
Great 1st build...my 2 cents on the gibson logo...Id redo it...Your hard work went into making it.,.,use your name or Freebird with gibson style script... peace

cpsmaxima
Stereordinary... The Astro-Turf can make clean up a little slow... I wish I had a shop! (with much better tools too). I have been building this guitar out on the balcony of our condo (with mostly Home Depot tools). Chris
