avengers63
I was just thinking about a really short-scale mini-ax this morning. I was envisioning a mandolin-like pitch, but with a neck wide enough for my huge hands to be able to play.

RestorationAD
I was just thinking about a really short-scale mini-ax this morning. I was envisioning a mandolin-like pitch, but with a neck wide enough for my huge hands to be able to play. I hate trying to keep them in tune... every little guitar I have ever played/owned has been fickle about tuning. Nice!
hooglebug
got a bit of colour on it looks darker in this pic because of the flash this is a bit more like it is its gonna be an almost opaque black/dark brown on the back and sides, running over onto the top to hide the two little bits of maple that were stuck on the get the width right

ScottR
I think I've finally seen your headstock clearly enough to understand what's going on in it. Correct me if I've got this wrong. The business edge where the tuners mount is a uniform thickness along the edge till it is past the last tuner. Then it curves into a greater thickness and bevels back in that signature contoured shape you do. I was always under the impression that the back three tuners were on a different level than the first three and wondereded how you dealt with the issues that would create. I've always been a fan of your headstocks....well, the entire builds actually. SR
hooglebug
yeah thats how it works. the tuners are always on the same level
hooglebug
the neck is being glued in now, and will be carved into the heel so its nice and smooth. the body back will be bursted, so do i tape the neck off and leave it natural or burst the neck as well? WezV
either works quite nicely
avengers63
I like the natural WAY better.
westhemann
I like the matching neck. Most of my guitars have necks that either match or compliment the body in some way, whether with paint, accents,or whatever...Just a plain wood colored neck always comes across as low grade to me
immortalx
If the front of the headstock stays natural (which IMHO it should, cause it's sexy curves deserve to be clearly seen), then a natural neck will feel more...natural Did i say i envy you? Even your mock ups seem freaking real
hooglebug
finally got the bridge so could drill all the holes and route for the pickup. its so much easier when your drill press can reach all the holes.
