Popular Post Retrosonix
I was originally going to build another small semi hollow body guitar but after a disaster with the top ( it cracked irrepairably, it was further broken by multiple kicks and then burnt) i decided to have a crack at an acoustic. I have been watching a lot of violin building vids so thought i would try an internal mould and make use lf the half finished body. back and sides are wenge, sycamore top and neck with a wenge fingerboard. bending was hard going as the sides are about 3mm and i am very lazy - too lazy to sand it thinner and planes are scary, so no planes. i am thinking of putting a single humbucker at the neck
Retrosonix
Started the neck. 24” inch scale. The sycamore is quartersawn and lovely and dry. Working on bracing for the back.

Retrosonix
Still undecided as to what kind of soundhole i am going to do, i need to decide before i work out a bracing pattern for the top.

Retrosonix
On the bright side, i do some of the same sycamore for a new neck and a pretty piece of ovangkol i can use for the fretboard. it also gives me an opportunity to revise my plans. Bizman62
Considering the current price of electricity your firewood isn't necessarily too expensive...

Retrosonix
Its a three aside headstock but i will be string it so the high and low e will got to the furthest tuners, the reverse of whAt is normal to add more of an art deco feel.

Retrosonix
Merry christmas everyone. managed to get a few bits done before the weather turned crappy, so close now! really pleased with the progress on my very first acoustic, the body has a loud, woody tap tone

I really like how you have repeated the shape of the sound hole on the headstock cutout! Brings it all together so nicely.
