Guest Litchfield Custom Gutars
Yes I will be putting a maple cap on it, and it will not be a recessed floyd. On paper it worked fine. OK, so the only part of the neck that's "thru" is the purpleheart; the rest of the neck is laminated to the purpleheart after the body wings dry, am I right? Yes, I crossed a 59 Les Paul and a neck thru.
daveq
Wooh, purple heart with limba - that's different. I guess if the purple heart is left to turn brown it might look less contrasting. Is that what you are doing or are you going for the purple color? What's the story with the steep angle? What type of bridge are you using? You're gonna love that limba - I wasn't a big believer in the wood making that much of a difference in the sound of an electric until I built mine out of limba. It's incredible. I hope the purple heart through the body doesn't steal any of that away.
Guest Litchfield Custom Gutars
I am going for keeping the purple. OFR, non recessed. Neck angle is 6 degerrs.
daveq
Sounds interesting. What color will you dye the top? Is it the quilt that you posted pics of recently? Just curious - not trying to criticize here - why do you like to use the purple heart so often? Is it the color, the properties of the wood, both? Guest Litchfield Custom Gutars
Purple is my favorite color, and I have used it with Limba and it looked killer. The properties are great. Its like ebony, but purple, and 10% of the price.

Guest Litchfield Custom Gutars
Well, its pretty much a blue makita drill. Big and badass, but dead. No visible signs of death. Presumably of natural causes. It was appoximately 20 years old. Autopsy concluded.

daveq
This thread is SO awesome. Litch - what is that top wood you've got there? Maybe you mentioned it back on page 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or ..., sorry if I missed it. Did you put something on it for the pic - it kinda looks wet or something? BTW, still looking for that $50, this could take a while...

You only need a small small track for the wiring. Man, that hole is either a sustain killer, or a tone chamber, depending on who you talk to!
