  1. Well if you go to the site where they're selling the six string neck through, http://www.carvin.com/products/single.php?...6&CID=GTR/K they offer an unshaped headstock so I don't see why they couldn't do that with a seven string if you asked them. Good luck!
  2. Oops! Sorry I thought you meant something else. Sorry 'bout that!
  3. Great stuff! I just realised you're in NB! Im a province over in good ol NS! Yeah those guitars are really nice just please dont try to actually use them as lures. You probably wont catch any fish with them. But you never know!
  4. Dude you are lucky! Our tree came down in Hurricane Juan 4 years ago and boy is it nice to get free wood. I didn't send mine to a mill, I just used a chainsaw and got a decent piece of wood (not planed yet but). I think you're being much smarter in sending it to a mill though.
  5. Yeah what you'd probably do is apply the shellac and go over it (once it's completely dry and not gummy) with 220 wet/dry sand paper (making sure you don't go completely through). You'd probably still have "shiny spots" which are basically dips in the shellac that the sandpaper couldn't reach. Then you'd apply some more shellac and sand it and repeat until there are no more "shiny spots". You should probably then go over it with 320 grit. That's what I'd do to dewax it.
  6. I've never done that before so I'm not an expert but I wouldn't think it would be a problem. As long as you didn't change where the bridge is or mess with the saddles which could ruin the intonation. Good Luck.
  7. Looks great! What neck are you using?
  8. That looks great! I really like the f-holes. It just all fits together! I think some wooden pickup covers would be really cool especially if you were using p-90s. Kudos!
  9. I agree with biliousfrog. I was wondering what inspired the carvings on the guitar. They kind of look Haida/Bill Reid inspired.
  10. That is amazing! You could do some serious Stanley Jordan inspired stuff on that . That is one good looking piece of work! Nicely done.
  11. Yes I've definetly heard good things about Dupli-Color. But a slightly cheaper alternative would be ArmorCoat. I don't know if its available in the UK but I have heard some success stories from friends who have used it. Yeah one of the worse things you could do would be switching brands. What colour are you thinking?
  12. I've never been a tele kind of person, but with the teles going on in this forum I have a felling that will change! These are really nice! Great job.
  13. Its no floyd but... http://www.stetsbar.com/ it is a trem none the less. If you got one of these you would need to do no routing. Guitar One gave it the One Award in January 2006. And their video is on this site too. http://www.stetsbar.com/reviews.html I've never used one but the review is good and you wouldn't have to do any routing. Good Luck!
  14. YEAH! Someone as young as me! Turning 14 on August 26!
  15. Yeah this is going to be cool! You might have some trouble with the headstock if you want to hang it on a wall hanger... lol. But apart from that, it looks really cool!
  16. I love this guitar! I'll be watching this one!
  17. THOSE LOOK AMAZING! Keep it coming! Very nicely done!
  18. Yeah I'm going to do an old V in that same green. Anyway, I think the green in the lion claw and knob cavities would be really cool! PS - That fretboard is awesome!
  19. Yeah I have the N2 that goes with that neck and even to me it looks totally natural on your guitar! Great Job!
  20. Good job! Can't wait for the next couple guitars!
  21. Yeah that fretboard kicks ass! I'm really liking the woods! Good job!
  22. I guess if you want it to work you should assemble the guitar and see if you can make it work before you start finishing it. Because if you have to do routing or drilling etc after you finish, you could damage the finish. It's simple advice but just thought I'd mention it.
  23. Yeah i agree, Have some fun with the refinishing process. If you don't want to spend a lot of money, but might want to get some experience refinishing, I'd say this would be the guitar to do it on. As far as what kind of guitar it is... I'm thinking it might be one of those "sears" guitars from the 60's or maybe its an old teisco or something. Their might be some kind of identification in the neck cavity or on the neck. Good luck!
  24. Hello The lacquer clear coat on this headstock had been curing for just over a month. Today I looked at it and noticed a chip ! I was wondering if the only option is to sand it down and start over or if there is an alternate route i could take to fixing the chip. Because it would be nice to have a finished guitar that has no chips! Time isn't really a factor but it might be nice to not have to wait another 1 or 2 months while i re-refinish it! The clear coat is lacquer and made by the ArmourCoat brand. Here are the pics (I outlined the chip in two of the pics): http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x26/WAKguitars/Chip3.jpg http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x26/WAKguitars/Chip2.jpg http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x26/WAKguitars/Chip1.jpg Any help is greatly appreciated!
  25. Yeah, a lot of people i know (including myself) use the dunlop jazz I, II and III's. GuitarOne did a whole article on them a couple of months ago. they're great picks.
