have you had problems with tapping the magnets and weakening them. i remember a while back on the boards(mid 90's) people proclaimed great improvment by whacking your pickups magnets to "age them" the theory was that when you hit the magnets you align the electrons(?) and reduce the magnetic field to make it sound more "vintage". never tried none of my guitars sounded bad enough to start whacking the pups with a ball ping. just wondering.

one of my favorite gutiars is the bottom of the line Yamaha Pacifica Tele. Paid $150 for it from elderly instruments. The fretwork and neckpocket are better than on my custom shop strat[mid 90's pink holoflake](i think this maybe partly elderlys doing). This pickups were good but not great put a used Rio Grande Mua Grande and it rocks. In short my $165 investment is one of my main guitars. The Esp basses from overseas are great too. I think where it's made has a lot less to do with it then who it's made by. Also the shop that sells it has a huge factor in my book. In my visits to elderly you didnt find any of the crap setup problems etc... you do at your "MUSIC SUPERSTORE". I have 2 of em here and rarely find a guitar thats playable on the shelf either outta tune broken strings or set up for archery. Or all of the above. So you pay a few bucks more from the shops that bother to quality check and set up and instrument i have too say its worth it. I know when i finally get to buy my high end acoustic ill fly or drive to one of thoose stores, probably elderly due to my experiences with them. btw Are any fenders made in the US anymore. I heard they only do assembly here due to thoose whacky california enviormental laws.(reasons fender should relocate a few hundred miles north to las vegas)

never heard of a crate tube driver but i dont follow there stuff much. Chandler Made a Tube Driver pedal and rackmount distortion/pre-amp that kicked butt. rumored to damage amps though. i used one for years w/ no problem. crate made a vintage club series that was definitly cool stuff for the price. id pick one of them up in a heart beat. hope this helps

anyone tried the planetwaves tuners. they seem itresting due to the self trimming idea.

make sure you read Brian's tutorials on stripping (seems funnier living in vegas). for that kinda pattern id seriously consider a fabric top save alot of time on the detail work. again read Brian's tutorial.

My main guitar is a parker nite fly sa. The fishmans in there sound awesome. especially blended. That said i think they were sorta deveolped for the parkers.

a friend had one that died after 33 days. GC has a 30 day return policy. After hours of fighting he got a different amp. The local Vox dealer tells me it was problem with the first runs....

how far are you guys sanding? It seems that you would need to sand to the finest of fine grits maybe even the stew mac kit LGM talks about. I've got a feeling he'll pop over to this one and tell us all.

based on experience with vinyl masks and rc car bodies heres how i would do it. 1. Spray the guitar black.(less likely for your white to bleed into the black then the black to bleed into the white) 2. mask after the black is more than fully dry 3. spray your white. you may need a silver or primer in between(the black base will dull the white. though that may be the look on zacks) 4. wait for the paint to dry fully, use a FRESH SHARP exacto to LIGHTLY sperarte the paint and mask then remove. Every time ive tried to remove a mask on a wet body ive smeared etc.... 4. read everything LGM has ever said on clear coating 5. read everything LGM has ever said on clear coating 6. think about your clear 7. read everything LGM has ever said on clear coating feel free to disagree

in a word: Electret. they are small cheap microphones that mic companies seem to get lots o dollars for. I bought 40 off of ebay for $12.00. Do a google search for electret circuits. I think I emailed brian some articles a long while back that i got email while on usenet.
