  1. Well, personally I really like the way my 2 guitar's necks are: round, thin but not too much (between a gibson and an ibanez) with low frets. Only problem, my brand new one came with smaller strings so I tend to get it sharp when I play... Also, I think it's a pitty they don't make SS low-wide frets... Low frets that don't need to be changed! lol
  2. Actually, i dunno what these are, but in theory an audio taper pot should work better for volume and a linear taper pot should work for tone.
  3. I believe gibson's ES models are done that way, aren't they?
  4. Well, I was at first looking at the MIMF preamp and trying to find a way to split the 2 signals with the piezo buffed. What i'm looking at in the guitar is 2 vol pots + 1 tone for the mags, a vol. for the piezo and 2 LP-type switches Anyways, I was thinking that it would probably be simpler to install all that mixing stuff outside of the guitar instead of inside... Would make it much simpler I think.
  5. well, a trem seems to help a lot for me... Just a little bit to keep the squeel down... Then again I wouldn't really think your gear help you very much lol. Anyways, try to get pretty close to your amp, make sure your pickups are potted (lol, it kinda help!) and experiment... not much else I can offer really.
  6. what if I use the till preamp? It should buff the piezo to 8 kOhm or so^ So would I really need the buffer at the imput then? Thanks a lot!
  7. Hey, I was wondering if there ought to be a way to make a little box with wich I could mix a (buffed, probably with till preamp) piezo with magnetic pickups. I'm thinking a box with a stereo in and a mono out, plain and simple. Thanks a lot!
  8. Carvin is simple. you pay 3x US shipping and they take care of the rest (incl. customs fees)

    My Music

Doesn't You're Infected sound a LOT like that James Blunt song??
  10. it is possible, but really NOT easy... And a JB is alredy an overwound pickup anyways... most players don't seem to know much about guitars... Or at least not with the right terms! And they'll believe whatever a luthier tells them, too...
  11. bah anyways I guess I listen to anything that aint rap or has punk roots dunno I kinda have a 6th sense that I close whatever i'm listening to whenever i hear a chord progression that sounds like punk... Saves my brain a bit I guess And about the emo/emocore debate... Who cares? and is it REALLY rock actually??
  12. I guess you might want to add CF rods just to make sure?
  13. Because the middle pickup is reverse wound, it's kinda like if it was out of phase, but magnetically, the same way a humbucker is...
  14. Bah... I'm pretty sure that guy doesn't even play guitar for real... I mean... In every video of him there are so many different angles that it's impossible we'd never see a cameraman somewhere... Has to be done in more than 1 shot while mimicking... (and I'm not even talking about the one where he changes guitar every 30 seconds) Anyways, on another luthier site I go to, someone bought one and said it wasn't that bad. The electronics are very crappy, though... He also had the bottom 6 defretted
  15. god if only I had the money... that guitar looks VERY killer man! Exactly my dream guitar, actually. Good luck selling it!
  16. there's the pickup's width (along the strings, that is) too... (and as primal said the distance between the coils, hence why something like a tele with both pickups in series doesn't sound like an HB) There are so many factors too... The power of the magnets, the depth of the coil......
  17. again, it always comes down to preference... No one can tell you what's the best for you... For me, I'm really liking those EB .11s i've had for a while on my floyd guitar... Cost next to nothing, too. And I can't stand Dean Markley Blue Steels... They don't start sounding good after like 2 weeks of playing... (they sound VERY dull until broken in!!! wth is that??) Anyways... try different stuff and see what suits you!
  18. You could always simply get some diamond plating at a hardware store and try to screw it to your body, should look pretty metal
  19. I think even a 250k pot compared to a 500k pot would make a bigger difference than the neck joint... There's really no way to compare the sounds anyways, really...
  20. As was pointed out, the only difference is you can get the pickup a bit closer than without the cover so it could make a difference for you...
  21. Worst case scenario for titebond: Ebay... I got mine there until I found that a wood shop had it for like 5$ less.
  22. None of the above! Progressive Rock !!! Stuff like Dream Theater and Opeth and such... (as long as there's no screaming lolll)
  23. Personally, I really like it... But it would be hard to make it look nice! And a single dot placed wrong will ruin the WHOLE effect!
  24. I'd love to see that color with a black burst around it! Anyways, really nice paint job!!!
