  3. make sure you use timber with open grain like ash. stain black, grainfill with red and sand back, then clear coat. cheers darren
  4. +1. if i used the back button on my mouse, i ended up at the intro screen also (i know that there is a home button now) pay no attention to godin chris, its just not "artistic" enough for him cheers darren

  6. perry i can move to perth any time you want me!! cheers darren
  7. +1. the only tool i have had a genuine fear of is a chainsaw. i had never used one and attempted to cut down a huge gum tree in my backyard down. after about 15 seconds of using the chainsaw i put it down and for the next 5 hours used a hand saw. my arms/legs/fingers/toes etc. were more important than saving time/energy!! yes. whether the timber presents a known danger ie: cancer causing agents etc. you are still breathing in dust which can't have a beneficial effect on your lungs. cheers darren
  8. in my cabinet making days we just threw the scraper in the vice and used the shaft of a screw driver. cheers darren
  9. i voted chrome after checking out brendans tele which won the march gotm. although after seeing it with the white pickguard and pups, i'd be inclined to get the hardware painted/powdercoated white. cheers darren
  10. chaos i'm far from any sort of expert (having never done this) but i would assume you would need to route the top of the body down by the thickness of the top you intend to put on it and then glue that sucker down. obviously some of the more experienced guys could give you a better description of the process. cheers darren
  11. they do something else too, they look dead sexy!!! cheers darren
  12. why not put a figured drop top stright over the pup routes, rear route it and do a burst finish or similar?? cheers darren
  13. i love everything about it!! the colours are fantastic. the only change i would make is to put some pickup rings on it. cheers darren
  14. looking good scotty. i'm a bit dissapointed you decided against going headless, i thought the body style was really suited to it, but hey, it will turn out great no matter what. cheers darren
  15. looking fantastic as usual drak. just wondering what happened to spaltosaurus? the links to the pics in the original thread are broken. (please don't tell me WOD ate it ) cheers darren
  16. dude, if thats your first, i'm heading out to the garage right now to burn my mahogany! ....honey, wheres that lighter fluid and matches??
  17. how about this one? scroll to bottom of page. cheers darren
  18. yo dime (sorry to hijack) where in adelaide are you from?? what suppliers have you tried, i got my timber from otto's, mahogany neck blanks and mahogany body wood. i'm looking for some kind of figured top (going to attempt an LP). btw i'm from largs bay. cheers darren
  19. as southpa said, auto body suppliers are probably your best bet. as for tite bond, try a specialty timber supplier, thats where i got mine in adelaide. if all else fails you may be able to get it through bunnings/mitre 10 etc. as a special order. cheers darren
  20. i've owned an hitachi 3.25 h/p router for years. it is a fantastic tool, never had a problem with it (and its done a LOT of work in that time) as for noise, thats really the neighbour's problem, because you wear hearing protection. right??? cheers darren
  21. thanx for posting that psw, that bass looks killer!! hopefully it will be in may's gotm
  22. what a fantastic month!! in the first poll, my three favourites were in different categories (scottyd's bass, wezv's custom and tundra man's vee). now that theres one poll it makes it a very hard decision, but scottyd got the vote. that finish!!
