  1. Never mind . . already found one. But I will sell the EMG 81 now if anyone is interested. $65 + ship to you. Comes in the original box, with all of the hardware (pots, hookup wires, etc). Jeff MODS: I did a new topic so you could delete this if you want to.
  2. Anyone? Mine is near new, 20 minutes of play time bought from a PG member. I have not installed it and it comes with everything. I'd prefer an 85 that is minty to new and has all the stuff with it. Let me know. Thanks! Jeff
  3. I'm building two mini guitars right now. Both are 19" scale, based on a larger design of mine (sorta les paulish). I fell in love with that MiniMay as well and almost built one of those, but thought my own design would be better. I'll give one to my son and use the other for messing around in the shop. So far, one is all white limba, ebony FB, one pickup and a black pickguard. The other is a medium quilt top over mahogany, maple neck with ebony FB. I will also use this as a sort of test ground for staining and finishing. I'll try to put some pics up when i get further along.
  4. Wow, who knew that Drak was a DT fan? I have seen them since Images and Words and in the last few years have grown tired of them. Probably from my overplaying of them and the recent stuff doesn't seem as good to me (isn't that always the case though?). Still a fan though and still crank it on occasion. There are tons of other prog metal bands out these days (that all took their cues from DT) to listen to if you want to expand or move on. Try Karmakanic, S-X, John Arch, OSI, etc.
  5. Interesting observation. Maybe inserts epoxied in, or the use of maple plugs might help out with strength.
  6. OMG that Turner inspired guitar is unbvelievable. Thanks for the link.
  7. Does anyone have one they want to sell? Let me know.
  8. Holy cow that's a nice sounding amp Perry. I have been amp shopping heavily the last few weeks looking at every single maker out there regardless of price and this one is up there with the top. It also just happens to have the exact sound I was looking for although it's just a tad Fendery (compared to what i was after). This sound is very similar to Jeff Kollman, who I think has the best tones on the planet. Sweeeeet.
  9. They are brand new, unused. I have to put a price in this classified board. SO I set it at the price I paid, but am asking for offers . . .not expecting full retail price. They were purchased from Warmoth. It is a chance to get brand new stuff at a lower price if the ofer is reasonable. I thought I'd offer them here before I did the auctions, since people here build guitars.
  10. My plans have changed and won't be using these parts. They are brand new in the package from Warmoth. Schaller Floyd Rose trem (black) - I paid $175 for it and it's untouched. I'll say $175 or best offer. Just trying to get my money back out. Schaller mini-locking tuners (gold) - I paid $66 for them and they're untouched. I'll say $66 or best offer. Only things I may be interested in are Gotoh 510 in black, maybe some Badass wraparound bridges, gold and black. Seth Lover PAF, Dimarzio Virtual P90, trisonics. Or a black Kahler 2300 or 7300 series trem. Money is best. Thanks! komodo (jeff)
  11. Wow. That is really a jaw dropper. You really outdid yourself this time. NICE!
  12. FYI-Carvin cabs are nice. The Vai Legacy 2x12 is only $399 loaded with two Celestian Vintage 30's. I just don't see how you can beat that.
  13. Hello, I am interested. Let me know the price please. Thanks, Jeff PS- I may have a Schaller Floyd Rose in black as well if anyone is interested
  14. Australian Blackwood is very smililar to Koa, and is in the same Acacia family. komodo
  15. Ya, you know i looked all over the net for some reference to it and found nothing. . . must have seen it in a FWW. It helps with the aluminum trunions flexing, and the weak knob screw down to hold table square. You basically take off the whole table, trunion assembly, build a plate to screw right onto the saw and then the assembly goes over that. As I mentioned, I used plate steel instead of plywood to only loose 1/4" vs. 3/4" and it's WAY stiffer. Also, you drill a hole into the side of the table, and then use a 1/4-20 hook bolt (like an eyebolt) and hook it into that hole and the screw ened bolts through a hole in the plate. Then you can "pull" the table down to square and lock it. Hard to explain, I'll try to take some pics and find the article. Jeff
  16. Howdy, I use a Jet 14", riser block etc for resawing and it works just fine if you treat it right. Technique and adjustment is everything, but the single most important thing is to GO SLOW. You are pushing a 6"+ piece of wood thropugh and you need to give it time. The biggest concern is usually blade drift, and for that I recommend a single point fence (i think i reviewed one in here way back). If you go slow enough, you can adjust for drift and come out perfect. i don't even use Carters, just Cool Blocks. A larger machine or even theGeneral may be nice, but hard to say without seeing it. the Delta or Jet are more than enough for the task though. Another useful thing on the bandsaw or any machine really is those link belts. I have been swapping all of mine out and they really help with smoothness. Jeff PS-here's a link to the bandsaw http://www.amazon.com/Kreg-KMS7200-Bandsaw...e=UTF8&s=hi PPS-I forgot I also have made a modification to mine. I have installed a 1/4" steel plate underneath the table that stabilizes the table/trunions and almost eliminates any flex. I think i saw it in FWW or something but the guy was using 3/4" ply and loosing that much cutting capacity. I decided to make mine from plate steel, gain the strength and 1/2" more capacity.
  17. Things to ponder. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perfection This thread reminded me of Brett Weston (Edward Westons son, both famous photographers). On his birthday, he burned all of his negatives, his whole life's work. How cathartic.
  18. ANyone have some sitting around? New or mint used? Looking for anything in trade (I have lots of parts/wood)? If not what's your price? Thanks!
  19. ya, the brand name doesn't do much for their credibility. But the proof is in the pudding. Drak, please let us know what you think when you hear them.
  20. Excellent, thanks. That was my instinct, not having used one . . .seems like the inline would be easily flipped back and forth between the coarse and fine sides. Is it too sharp to grab the end for control while shaping? BTW, your guitars are killer. I see a lot of builders but not so many with original and fully thought out design such as yours. I really dig yours, Scott French and David Mykas. You guys really inspire me. Oh holy crap, and Jerzy Drozd. . .can't forget those! Jeff
  21. Hey, I have a question about those. Do you use the kind with the handle inline, or the one that has the two handles? Would you recommend one over the other for this application? Thanks!
  22. Hiya Drak, hey can I ask you somthing? What do you do with all your guitars when they are finished? Do you have a huge stable of them or do you sell them? I have several in process and wonder what I will do with all of them after they are finished.
  23. Ya , you haven't even started yet Matt. I lived in Minneapolis for 20 years and by the end of winter there would be a MOUNTIAN at the end of the driveway on each side. I am sure Canada is worse than MN . . . have fun with it. You can dig out caves in it and build wicked snow castles.
  24. The HVLP you heard bad hings about might have been the turbine units. The compressor HVLP guns are great for this. For an alternative to the SATA, with similar performance You can look at the Astro Pnuematics or the CAT. I just bought a CAT and haven't used it yet so i can't vouch for performance yet, but they say it's very comparable for a similar unit. The build quality is excellent though. http://www.spraygunworld.com/products/Astr...0-%20AP4020.htm http://www.spraygunworld.com/products/CAT/CATMiniJet.htm
