  1. They aren't expensive, just buy picks. Or cut up credit cards, either way. I like my jazz picks and I'm not going back to anything else.
  2. There is no such thing as non-metallic silver. Non-metallic silver is gray.
  3. 1977 - 1979 > $1000 to $1400 ( RD Standard ) 1977 - 1979 > $1150 to $1500 ( RD Custom ) 1977 - 1982 > $1200 to $1600 ( RD Artist ) guitar price guideAvg Upward Trend Of 11% A Year Since 2000
  4. Look up Brian's 8 string, maple fretboard with stylized abalone dot inlays. it's quite fantastic.
  5. Just take your time and read up and it should turn out fine. You'll need a fret nipper and a fret tang nipper because of the binding, you could put the frets in with a hammer if you don't want to spring for a press. and then leveling and crowning can be accomplished fairly easily with tools you probably already have lying around.
  6. Drak mixed some blue sparkley stuff in epoxy and filled part of a Burl telecaster. It looked amazing and I want to know where he got the sparkley stuff, I may try that with grain filling.
  7. there is no "problem" with the fretboard, it is just played, I don't think it possible to get the dirt out of the fret board in those areas, Either a new fretboard it you want it to look new, nice, and uniform or keep it the way it is and have it look like a played classic, I'd say leave it. Those frets look damn near flat, so a refret my be in your guitar's future.
  8. Hardware you'll need a barrel style jack (I'm assuming as it isn't visible in the picture) an original Floyd rose and a D-tuna. The tuners are probably Gotoh. The Wiring is pretty simple, Seymour Duncan has all of their wiring Schematics in color and they are very easy to follow, just look up a wiring Diagram for 2 humbuckers a 3 way switch 1 volume and 1 tone.
  9. I'm not sure of the technicalities here. It is typing but it's in the form of a picture.... how does one solve such a dilemma?
  10. They aren't that big, my weeping demon wah looks like it's over a foot long!
  11. I like the first design, it flows better, i think. The second one just looks like the at symbol (@) with some swirls around it.
  12. Still, best pickup in the world or not, they aren't worth 500 dollars a piece. What are they made of? Are they pretty much constructed like every other pickup?
  13. On a stereo jack I'm pretty sure it's just hot and two grounds, the hot is the short one usually and then it doesn't matter which other one is grounded.
  14. Rob G. I LOVE YOU! It works perfectly now. Thank you so much.
  15. When I watch Buckethead, his whammy is not depressed at all. I'll call that zero. When his whammy is at zero his guitar sounds normal, it is only when he begins to depress the pedal that the pitch raises. I assumed this is because he has a better version of the whammy, I saw Rockford's own shredder friday night, Shawn Williams and he has the same whammy 4 but the same thing as buckethead when it's on and on zero it sounds like his regular guitar and the effect doesn't kick in until the pedal is depressed. When I turn my whammy on and it is at zero the pitch is always raised, How can I fix this? I already removed the rubber stoppers on the bottom of the expression pedal to help it get closer to my original pitch, an improvement but still not all the way to zero. is there some sort of internal switch or something? Thanks to all who can help, even a little bit.
  16. An Allen key is like 90 cents, I believe that is a 3mm Allen key.
  17. I want an RG with a smoother, richer sound, often attributed to the Les Paul. I want a lot of sustain, it will be a neck through and a hardtail so I suspect sustain won't be in short supply. It was probably a mistake saying I wanted it to sound EXACTLY like a Les Paul. I don't. I just want it to sound um.. thicker? I just want a warmer tone than the standard Basswood has.
  18. As is craftsmanship or quality control worth anything. Well, this will be a seven string so I don't know if the low b is just going to flop around if I went for 24.75. I also down tune which only makes it worse.
  19. I was wondering when somebody would make a guitar hero guitar out of wood and transfer the electronics. I knew it would happen.
  20. I don't want an exact LP sound I just want a smoother, richer sound, which is where the mahogany comes in but I also don't want it to be too muddy so the maple wings would hopefully change that a bit. I know LP's are set neck but like I said I'll probably F up everything if I try to make the neck and neck pocket.
  21. yeah, it'd be 25.5 which I know takes away some warmth and sustain.
