  1. nevermind, I used the first link.. second link still doesn't work for some reason. Looks good though!
  2. If you mean forgiving as in with respect to the movement of the wood, generally nitro grants the wood more room to breathe and expand or contract with humidity and tempurature. That's what I've gathered anyway.
  3. Well then without the vines and monkey grip, that makes it just another RG doesnt it?
  4. Cool beans. It may get old for alot of people, but I always like seeing 5150 versions of guitars. And I'm not even an Eddie fan!
  5. I actually kinda like the way the strat body looks with slices cut out of it like that.. Makes me want to try something similar.
  6. I'ce always been a fan of Classic rock, so I almost picked 60's-70's... then I realized that I've been listening to waaayy too much Rammstein (German Industrial Metal, Tanz-Metall), and Megaherz (German Industrial Metal). So I just picked European Metal.. guess that's close enough..
  7. I like the body shape a lot. Reminds me of the BC Rich Wave.
  8. Yeah, epi switches are horrid. Anyway, I would do the job myself, considering I've never managed to screw up guitar wiring - every guitar I've wired or rewired has worked fine. Wish I had the same luck with building stompboxes..
  9. Tell that to Buckethead! however before an argument insues, YES, to each his own. I personally don't picture the LP as much of a shred guitar either. Anyway, I really like the look of that guitar!
  10. If i were to relic that, I would scuff up the original finish, spray a nitro primer then my nitro color and clear, thinly, then wet sand the wear spots in, makings sure that all layers are represented. That would make it more convincing (alot of old Fenders that are now relics have a burst undercoat - if a burst guitar's finish wasnt up to snuff they would just scuff it and paint it solid).
  11. For unregulated (non-adjustable) I would go with no more than 30, MAYBE 40. I have a Craftsman 30w that i picked up for about 12 bucks and its pretty good.
  12. Perhaps some dirty/loose/cold solder joints? Double and triple check your joints, always, i've found. Make sure everythings grounded right, etc.
  13. I've been playing with the idea of using a shallow neck pocket to compensate for a TOM (wanting to get the feel of my Teisco copy - with the strings way up off the body), instead of using a neck angle. I also don't feel like trying to angle a bolt on neck.
  14. Beat him with the guitar, and we can kill two birds with one stone.
  15. Concrete must be the latest modern-mojo!
  16. There are several DIY 1/2 practice/headphone amps out there that you oculd use to drive the speaker: "Little Gem (and Little Gem Mark II)" http://runoffgroove.com/littlegem.html "ROG Ruby" http://runoffgroove.com/ruby.html Theres also a schematic for a Smokey Amp clone somehwere on this page: http://www.geocities.com/tpe123/folkurban/...s.html#lofomofo
  17. This poor guitar... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Custom-Stratocaster-...1QQcmdZViewItem
  18. I'm a batman fan so i love this guitar! as for the batman head thing, it just makes the bottom part of the guitar look more like the clasic logo, you know, the wings with the pointed ears. I like it, and I think I'll like it even more with the yellow! I had been dreaming up a batman tribute guitar, but you beat me to it... Maybe I'll make mine anyway.
  19. You should make a matching bass - that's DEFINATELY a great design for a bass, as well. I like it.
  20. True that. Listen to LK! Doesn't matter what you use. My only preference is stranded and between 20-14gauge. Other than that, who cares? Make sure it's easy to work, won't break with normal movement, and won't make a mess of you cavity. Nothing ticks me off more than a messy electronics cavity. Oh yeah, and as for my own answer to your orignal question: Yes, by all means use the 20ga solid core wire, it makes no difference. Just try not to sling the harness around by the wires or anything. Solid core WILL break at solder points if it moves too much.
