  1. I'm not a fan of pointy guitars, or even long guitars. But in the end it's your instrument, your choice. Your redraw of the guitar is a bit better, but your headstock is still too lop sided.
  2. Sell it, then buy a jackson with a FR...
  3. Picked up a copy today. Part one was very good, lots of pictures too which is always helpful. Can't wait for the rest !
  4. I don't mind higher action either, on my les paul if i have it too low the low E and A strings buzz at the centre of the fretboard. Plugged in it doesn't matter, it just seems to lose some sustain, but i like playing unplugged too and it gets damn annoying!
  5. ... Thats me being speechless. Awesome axe...very nice work mate. ... Me being speechless again.
  6. @ Perry: I love the way you prove a point, and a fact!
  7. Ferulle holes look awesome RGGR, nice work!
  8. Thanks for clearing that up brian, my post was more assumption than anything.
  9. If the rod is the single action type, loosening the nut will allow the FB to bend up (concave) while tightening will allow the FB to bend down (convex). Make sure your strings are at normal tuning when adjusting the trussrod.
  10. Seing as the nut and bridge are the endpoints of the strings vibrating length you should get them checked out. If anything it would be more likely to be the nut.
  11. It may break as you said, when pressing the nut into the slot, though it depends on how much pressure you use. You can buy sheets of borosilicate glass, which is the same thing as pyrex and would work quite well, as for the sound? Maybe a bit bright?
  12. I used to work with glass, and my parents still do leadlighting as a hobby. The glass shouldn't break, as guitar guy said. The reason for this is that it is supported from the bottom. If the nut wasn't installed it would be easily broken, one drop on any hard surface would crack the glass where the slots are cut. I'm very sure this would work on a strat guitar, where there is more support than a gibson style nut, although if a strat style nut made from glass works, i'm sure a gibson nut would too. Of course, the nut slots would need to be perfect, as their is still a risk of the nut breaking outwards on the two E's slots. I could cut one up and slot it, but i don't have any guitars i would like to pull the nut out of right now to try it Rgman.
  13. WOW...if thats done by hand...well, i would be speechless
  14. I knew that the accuracy would be fairly shitty on the little CNC, most parts i can get for free (my gf's dad works at a CNC laser/router place that is shutting down at the end of Decemeber, most of the older spares will be chucked out if noone claims them so i plan to attempt to get some decent parts that way) Also alot of software i could use aswell From there i will look at purchasing some plans from one of the many DIY CNC sites. Anyway, i will find out whether i could get these parts then go from their, if not i will just buy the parts! rgman
  15. Well i was looking at CNC on wiki, trying to understand its workings to a greater extent and i stumbled across a tutorial for making a small CNC. http://www.engadget.com/2006/06/29/how-to-...machine-part-1/ http://www.engadget.com/2006/07/04/how-to-...machine-part-2/ http://www.engadget.com/2006/07/11/how-to-...machine-part-3/ I havn't yet studied the tutorial, my eyes can barely stay open. From the looks of the final product pictures it may be a suitable machine for inlay work. Personally, i am electronically retarded and at the moment i could not build a machine like that until i learn a bit more about electronics. I'm sure one of you guys could build one in no time, what do you think? worth building for inlay work? If so i may have a crack at building one in the distant future. RGMAN
  16. Oh god...they should of atleast screwed up a SG rather than an LP.
  17. All i have ever changed my guitars with: EB slinkys 10s GHS boomers 10s Random selections of EB 11's I play metal, and what can i say? I'm happy with them all.
  18. Thanks for the help thirdstone! I have decided on using my beech neck for another project and going with a maple neck. I will also be purchasing some sheets of veneer (maybe bubinga or a darker wood?) for the headstock (back and front) and also the heel of the neck. Though i may not use them and just paint the neck aswell as the guitar, depends... i may just keep the whole thing natural, i will have a big think and maybe do some mock-ups. I should have some update pictures tomorrow before i go away for a week on holidays.
  19. ok as it was stated earlier, the zbrgduxcvy.biz is a spoof site that has been created for the purpose of annoying the **** out of people, its is also very likely it contains the virus/spyware. i noticed that this page will appear when clicking on certain things, not that you all havn't noticed it either. My only guess is that someone has hacked through one of spare admin addresses (i know phpBB have 2 or 3 "spare/backdoor" admin accounts, so i can only assume invision would have something similar. Then when we click on certain links, we are automatically redirected to zbrgduxcvy.biz, which may: A: piss you off, which is a main objective of younger hackers B: load you with a virus or a spyware loader C: all of the above! All we can do is wait until somone; either original administrator or invision fix it.
  20. Forums are easy targets for hackers, that is why they are hacked. While Invision software has better security features than boards such as phpBB, it is still VERY vulnerable. Though i have never seen anyone place a spyware agent in a forum, it is very difficult! And IE will be more vulnerable to any malicious software, be it virus or spyware, so to be safe download firefox 1.5 and never use IE again. The small box, when you run your curser over the box does it react as if it is a button?
  21. Yeah, i have an emg p90, its not dogear covered though, any ideas where to get some decent de'd p90's? Basically i want a light color with all black hardware, its the way i like things!
  22. I go to bars, but it's not the picks I prefer to be picking up. But then again ,I'm not 14 y.o. No offence intended PunkRockerLuke I've still come accross the odd pick I bought in the mid-eighties They never really disappear, they just hide for awhile. My picks have a nasty habit of hiding from me when i need them, then 6 months later i find them, 2 days later i lose them, 6 months later i find them...etc etc..
  23. Heres one tip, don't sand to bear wood, make sure you leave the sealer on, it will make life easier!
  24. Very nice pukko, i love the red!
  25. Ironwood will work for a neck better than anything, it isn't too hard to work with providing you have sharp tools, but be warned, they won't be sharp for long after working with alot of it.
