  1. I have to say that one of my biggest influences through the years has been Mr. Hetfield. Him and the Slayer duo has made a huge impact on me, as well as Adrian Smith and babyface from Iron Maiden. More recently I try not to let people influence me, and instead let me be the influence.. Highly unsucsessful tho.. lol
  2. I've been using Superior and Superior 2.0 for years now. With Cubase tho, but from what I remember S.2.0 should be perfectly fine to use in Fruityloops just as you are used to, cause after all it is only a VST, and Fruity supports VST, should be a breeze...
  3. I totally second that. It would look so much better. It looks awesome now, but with better covers it would look superduperawesomefantastic!
  4. I'd definitely be interested in a 14" and 16" bit.. Could you post a pic of the one you got, just for a preview for us..?? Cheers!
  5. I want this so bad. What would the shipping be to Norway? And will the compressor work with the currents we have here? 220v? or would I need a transformer..? Thanks!
  6. I'm actually thinking of using an existing plastic pickup ring as a template, then routing with a flush-trim bit. As long as my corners are pre-cut, I don't see why it wouldn't work. I think a plastic ring will be too flexible, get a metal pickup ring instead...
  7. Hey! Welcome! I say go for it with the neck. I have only built one guitar so far, far from perfect. I was very hesitant to do the neck, but finally decided to take the plunge, and it turned out pretty well, very playable. I'm really happy I did that, and now I'm more confident as I'm starting up my second build. Good luck, and go for it.
  8. Get hold of EZdrummer from Toontrack. Loads of nice samples, and completely packed with readymade midi files, where you can put them together, with fills and all kinds a things. Have a look at www.toontrack.com. You won't be dissappointed I think..
  9. I have had long hair ever since I was 15-16 years old, 34 now, and still have hair down to the bottom of my back..
  10. Couldn't agree more. This is what totally destroys it for me. Ok, it's not St.Anger snare, but damn, it is completely lifeless and without, well, soul, for lack of a better word. And Lars sounds like he has become too old to play this ****, but like deeeeeeeeesperately trying to do it anyway, it sounds completely forced at times, very little creativity in the playing, and.. well, I could go on and on about it, let's just agree that Lars' time is over...
  11. I had some tear outs on my mahogany Explorer, but that was also my first build, so I just blame it on me not being very experienced...
  12. Yeah, I agree on that. Generally people like this is what I like the most in the metal industry. At the same time I think it is kinda weird that he could not get over whining about being kicked out of Metallica like 100 years ago. Seems weird that such a strong minded character has such problems getting over that kinda thing...
  13. I can't really agree with you on that one, Tornado of Souls and Take no prisoners are good songs too, not to mention Hangar 18 which together with Holy Wars is what makes this album. I guess with this as with everything else, it's like the middle rear part of the human anatomy, very divided...
  14. I seem to remember having seen it somewhere here, but I can't find it. So, how much wood do I have to leave below the truss rod? Yes, I can imagine that it is wood type dependant and what not, but like in general. 2mm - 3mm.. I'm using StewMac's Hot Rod and the last (first) I made was slightly too thick to my taste, so I hope that I can make my next thinner. But I would very much like to know how much I need so I don't break my neck... Thanks!!
  15. Make a search here for Guitar2005. If I remember correctly he has a nice drawing of a KL headstock on his Explorer thread..
  16. I think that if you want to build your own guitar, you should go for it! Do some good research, and just dive into it, and you will learn a lot, make some mistakes that you will learn from, and in the end, you will have a guitar that you can be really proud of. Then after a while you will build another one.. Just keep in mind that your first guitar will most likely not be perfect. I have only built one so far, but it is quite playable, and it sounds fairly good. Just have a lot of patience, and be accurate! I say go for it, you will have tons of fun!
  17. Orgmorg, according to the manufacturers brochure it is the throat depth that is 7,5" (approx). Usually prices over here are insanlely much more expensive than anywhere else.. hehe.. I'd order one from the states if it were not for the power differences we have. But we will see, I'm not going to ruin myself getting this one, so... Thanks a lot tho..
  18. Thanks guys. Mattia, from my quick conversion it should be 7,5" throat depth. If it is in working order, then it is cheap and should probably be a good buy I think...
  19. What do you think about this guys? I can get this for about 190€/300$. Could be a good addition to my little shop, or is it a waste of money? thanks for any input... Type C 16AE Drilling capacity 2-16mm Max. spindle stroke 85mm Drill chuck 16mm keyless Work table dimension ø310mm Distance spindle/table 420mm Throat depth 194mm Swing 360 degrees Tilt +-45 degrees Motor 1HP Voltage 1x230V-50Hz Number of speeds 12 Rpm 210-2580 Total height 1003mm Weight 66kgs
  20. Hey there.. As far as I remember there are King-V plans for grabs at www.guitarbuild.com. Check your printer settings, it might have a tile function that allows for full scale prints, and then you just tape the sheets together. If not, split the plans into smaller size sections, and then print them 'manually' and then tape.. Cheers!
  21. Hey there! I'm not very experienced in this, but.... Get it as tight as you possibly can, the tighter the better. Make sure everything is filled in. Use sandpaper to sand it level. Cheers and good luck with it!
  22. Hey there folks! I've been thinking and drawing for a little while now, and I think now is the time to get a little feedback perhaps. I'm going to do two guitars at once this time, just for fun. ESP F Model - Morfeus. Neck through design - Curious about that one, never did it before. 27th scale. Maple neck, Ash body. I think that I'll just let the drawings speak for themselves. If anyone have any ideas on how to actually acheive the designs on this one, I'd be happy to get some input. Rhoads V Neck through. 27th scale Maple neck, Ash body. Still didn't decide on what finish to have on this, nor the inlays. Got some ideas, but nothing that really stuck to my mind yet, so I'll just leave that for now. Would be nice to hear what you guys think of these. Cheers!!!
  23. This is looking real sweet man!!!!!! I gotta build myself a couple more... The Limba looks awesome, I'm kinda envious on this one. I never liked wood colored guitars, but after frequenting this forum for a couple of years or so now, I'm leaning more and more towards building a couple myself.. Kudos on this one, congrats!!!!
