Your string spacing will be wider on the 12 which may or may not be an issue for you, but I'm guessing it would be an issue for most. With the extra 6 strings on there your finger has somewhere to land other than empty space. Other than that, yes, if you take off the "other" 6 strings it should sound about the same as a 6 string. One question.....why buy a 12 if you really want a 6 or vice versa??

+1 to Jehle's advice. I stayed out of this thread for a long time because it was emotional but now it's serious. I can empathize with your situation because my biz is also on eBay and it would hurt bad to get a suspension. Do this right and let's keep it documented so the next time it happens to someone they have a "manual" to work with. PM me if you need any help with research or anything else. There WAS violence and looting and killing and pillaging (my what short memories some folks have) and that is the reason the Sri Lankan's did not want aid workers distributing the food and supplies. The danger was too high and they were afraid the aid would be cut off so they offered to distribute it with their own troops or with an army escort only. Back on topic: It's good to see that help is indeed there in force now with more on the way. This will take years to striaghten out and countless lives will never be the same. Donate what you can when you can for the next year. Make a point to give a few bucks a month for 12 months.....even if it's $20 a month it will help. I was very low in my earlier estimate.....this morning they said 1,500,000 plus are homeless from this (I thought it was 250,000). That's a LOT of folks needing homes and jobs. I'm opening up my home to a couple and giving free room and board until they get back on their feet. If you have a spare room in your house I ask you consider doing the same. There are numerous web sites up now to list your opening just check the major news sites (Fox, CNN, MSNBC, etc.) or do a google or Wikipedia search for them.

I love the J45 too. I'd really suggest you check out the Garrison if you can get them on your side of the pond. They're made in Canada and have a very different sound from most of the guitars you've ever played. I had a G50 and a G41 (and several G20's and G25's) and they went to guys I know. One hasn't touched his Martin since he got the G50. He got the G50 last summer and set his Martin aside for 3 or 4 months and finally gave the Martin to his kid. He is a better commercial for the Garrison than I am I play bass BTW and fiddle on guitars regulary since I sell them. I've played over 1000 guitars easily this year so I hear lots of different wood combos and brands (and I really do suck at guitar ). Don't forget to play a Taylor also. When you play the Martin's play a mid to high end one. My pastor's wife just picked up a "low" end Martin (like there really is such a thing) and it sounds.....well, not so good. I hate to rip on Martin's because they are killer guitars but let's say I am less than impressed with her's. It's a D-1 and was over $900 new....... But you're on the right track, play them all and let your ears decide. Always my advice!! BTW the pastor's wife loves her Martin....it's just me that it doesn't appeal to but I don't have to play it every day. My wife doesn't like my Peavey Cirrus bass but I love it.....she loves my Epiphone Les Paul bass......go figure. I love the Epi too though....and all the others

Take a peek at these topics and see if they help: Best Acoustic Best acoustic #2 There are a few more that the search turned up so you may want to try searching "best acoustic" here on the forum. The J-200 is sweet and most anyone would be happy with it. Play the one you plan to buy first though and make sure the frets are dressed well and she is straight, etc. I'd also take a look at the Takamine TNV760S Tak TNV760S She is a beauty and all the Tak's I've played are extremely nice. If you want a killer sound for about half the price of your budget go check out an Alvarez AJ60SC Alvarez AJ60SC They run about $600 USD here. You should be more than impressed. Also try a Takamine EG523SC if you have the chance. About 1/3 of your budget but you will be impressed. Check out Garrison Guitars also. Again, less than your budget but perhaps the best acoustic I've ever heard......really. Not sure if you can get them in the UK though so you may have to research that. Check out the G41 and the G50 although ALL of their models sound amazing, and yes, I mean amazing. Play one....you'll see. (I sound like a commercial for these guys!) Garrison Guitars It really depends on the wood selection you want also. I like the rosewood body/spruce top combo in an acoustic but maple/spruce like the 523 have a nice clear sound. I think you can spend a lot less than your budget and get a guitar that sounds exactly like you want it to. Good Luck and let us know what you end up with.

Alabama was also affected and suffered some severe damage along the coast and some inland. It looks like most of Mississippi was also taken out, even well inland. Once the shootings and all the BS started in NO the glory (or gory) hounds in the press box decided to focus only on that. There are many, many others that are now without homes and power besides the relatively few in NO. Estimates I've seen range from 100,000 to 250,000. I'm not sure there will be a good number for weeks or even months. Here's a map of the areas that had hurricane force winds. There were also many tornadoes and lots of flooding outside of that area from the storm. Area Map On another note.....there are 3 A-10's doing practice bombing runs on my house right now.....how freakin' cool is that!!! They're flying about 30 feet above my house and pulling up as soon as they pass over then laying into her and going around for more. The one guy came back around and must have seen me on the deck so he gave me a wing wave as he went back for more. It Blue Books at just over $1000 in 98% (near mint) and $900 at 95% (excellent). Nothing is near mint or mint since anyone can look over a guitar or bass long enough to find something to save a few bucks Higher end Fender stuff mostly does not depreciate over time and some of it appreciates rather well depending on what it is. This one seems to have held its value pretty well for the past 17 years. I'm guessing you probably paid around $1200-1300 for it new (?)............. Actual price you get is really dependent on the market. Summertime is not really a good time to sell unless you have a buyer that is itching for the model you have. Remember that Blue Book is NOT what a dealer will give you. You can expect about half of that from a dealer or you can consign it at a dealer for a cost of 20-25% of sale price back to them.

You only need what your ears like to hear. Go play several different guitars that are set up this way and decide what YOU like. Our opinion is not going to make a hoot of difference if you build it "our" way and you think the sound and tone suck..... The "F" holes will make a tone difference. To me a chambered or semi hollow without "F" holes sounds growly or muddy (not in a bad way) and those with "F" holes sound a bit brighter. Again......that's MY ears talking, yours may hear them completely differently. I'm also mainly a bass player so I like growly and muddy, most guitar players I know do not like muddy, they like a nice clean tone that can be manipulated with pedals if desired. If you're not using the ghost saddles then you need to find a Hamer DuoTone and play that. It is set up with the bone saddle with piezo under. IMO it is an EXCELLENT sounding guitar that sounds like no other. It is one of my personal favorites. Be careful if this is your first build and make sure you get the bridge and saddle placed properly. Hamer had some problems when they first built this model and made an intonation nightmare for many, many customers and dealers that had to correct them.

Go to your local music shop and play a Schecter C1-E/A if they have one and it will answer all of your questions. Take a look here: C-1 E/A And check out Harmony Central for reviews and comments on the C-1 E/A and similar models by other manufacturers. IMO you should at least have a semi-hollow body with the piezo. Use electric strings. The bridge mounted pickups like the TonePros are specifically designed for this type of application. Also to repeat what mled sadi.....you need to do a google search or three. Check out "bridge mounted piezo", "electric-acoustic", etc.......have fun!
