  1. That's a pretty little shorty bass you got there. My only complaint is the black is too dark.. I don't know but to me it just detracts from the beauty of the bass in my eyes. BUT! You have an excellent instrument there, Geo, and you should be extremely proud. Please if you can when you are finished post a sound clip. I'm interested in hearing what it sounds like.
  2. Man you are like a guitar factory! Cranking out new stuff constantly! I like your work a lot, and I share that sentiment you used to have about neck building; frankly I'm afraid to do it.
  3. Oi! Well thats a relief to hear... tis why I check my build over and over to make sure that I havent missed something important. But hey it happens and I'm glad you didn't lose all that material and the chance to play a new instrument you made.
  4. Ouch. But, maybe you could fashion the last two frets like one on those weird hamers with the triangular kind of fretboard end.
  5. that is really awesome! you should look into a cheap copy one then and you can always upgrade it.
  6. That was unnecessary and really offensive. Besides that comment.. working at a repair shop or a big guitar factory are the two 'simplest' ways to make money with guitars.
  7. Wow! I just saw a picture of one of those the other day, and I have to say, they are cool looking guitars. Should be an interesting project, how far along is the body?
  8. With that color, and the black hardware, it looks just like my brother's Conklin GT4. And I really like that bass. Amazing work, you really created a great looking instrument! Any hope for some soundclips?
  9. Not unless you have mad skills! Seriously though, great work, excellent guitar. I like the shape and the color, sick stuff.
  10. I'd be much more interested if i could see a picture. Please post one if you can.
  11. Thats really quite a fantastic job you've done there. You have a hell of a lot of talent for a first timer, and that control cavity is quite clean looking. Excellent work, I'm in awe of your project here, I hope mine can get this good lol.
  12. Yeah i think it might look funky with a 3x3 headstock. A regular V works fine with one but the RRV is different.. it seems to work best with the 6 in line.
  13. My only criticism is that I don't like the lack of a truss rod cover, I think a solid black one even if it's nothing fancy would make the headstock blend with the rest of the body better. Maybe also making all the hardware black would improve the look in an area of balance. But these are just my preferences, I really like black on red, I have a guitar I painted that looks just like that. Besides that there is nothing else i can find 'wrong' with this guitar! It looks to be well built, and I like the modified V shape a lot. Great work, I can only imagine what your next one might look like.
  14. Oh man i want one. Thats one mean machine you have there! Hope you shred it up (and not that amazing finish!!)
  15. I'm totally speechless... that is simply amazing.
  16. Get hardwood dowels to fill those holes. I've done it before, it works quite well.
  17. I usually don't like Tele's but that is a nice variation on one. Excellent work.
  18. This project is shaping up quite nicely, I already like it much more than I did when you started out on it. Amazing work Jon, can't wait to see this one finished.
  19. Doh! That may have been stupid. Have to find a ruler that isn't bent first..
  20. So in reality it is a mutated 4 string? Sweet....
  21. Okay I have a real update, I started routing out the electronics cavity. It isn't perfect, I have to clean it up and make everything even, as well as rout it deeper, but here it is so far. I know the line on top is not straight, and I am going to fix that but, my rout looks crooked to me, and its really bothering me. Maybe it is because of the lines, or maybe it is actually crooked? Can someone please help me out with this because I have about 3mm that I can use to make it more straight but thats it. Thanks for looking, and any helpful feedback is greatly appreciated!
  22. B-)That is a gorgeous instrument!!! Wow, what beautiful woods and excellent craftmanship! Keep it up, this is definitely sparking my interest in making my own baritone.
  23. I just got my last shipment of parts in, and I should be making some more real progress tomorrow, hopefully routing out the rear cavity.. If I get that done, expect new pictures up tomorrow!
