Grindell Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 Don't know if anyone else saw it, but I got an email from Grizzly this AM about a sale on their Heirloom Guitar kit for $225. I ordered two, just to see what the quality is like. Quote
jay5 Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 No offense, but why not order one if its just to see what the quality is like? What if its crap? Quote
jammy Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 I expect... Its only $225, and if its good - youve got a nice guitar, if not, you can warn others not to bother Theres bound to be some usable parts in there even if its generally crap.. Quote
westhemann Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 yeah i think i would have just ordered one, rather than possibly double the problem. good luck with that Quote
nollock Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 Mebey he just wants to check they are of consistent quality? chris Quote
Grindell Posted November 7, 2004 Author Report Posted November 7, 2004 I got one to build to check for quality. The other is for myself to play around with and mod. Quote
bluespresence Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 I got that email also and emailed them to see if they offer reseller discounts. If they do I'll let you all know and pass it along if there is any interest. Quote

Guest AlexVDL Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 WOW... set neck.. too bad for the ugly cutaway though Quote
Maher Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 looks sweet, but theres no infomation on the wood types and stuff Quote
Thoughtless 7 Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 That looks pretty damn sweet O_O Quote
Grindell Posted November 11, 2004 Author Report Posted November 11, 2004 Ok, got the guitar kits yesterday. The top is a very thin veneer, and the body wood has the appearance of mahogony, but not quite as open pored or as heavy. The neck is very well shaped, and the inlay in the neck is well done. It looks like paua, but I'd think more like Ablam, as real paua would be too expensive? The tuners and bridge appear to be Gotoh. All in all, well worth the $225. I think the regular kit price is $425? I'd actually pay more if it came with a real maple top and not just a veneer, and also with block inlays. I'm thinking of posting a tutorial on building it, if anyone is interested. Quote
rradams Posted November 11, 2004 Report Posted November 11, 2004 Grindell, It's good to hear that they're worth the money. Everything I have bought from Grizzly has satisfied me. I'd be interested in following a tutorial if you are going to do one. Rubin Quote
Grindell Posted November 11, 2004 Author Report Posted November 11, 2004 Sure. It will probably be after the first of the year, because I'm currently working on a scratch built Les Paul type. Quote
Scooby Posted November 12, 2004 Report Posted November 12, 2004 Does anyone have the link to order one of these? Quote
javacody Posted November 12, 2004 Report Posted November 12, 2004 It looks like they are sold out. Quote
LGM Guitars Posted November 12, 2004 Report Posted November 12, 2004 never mind, thought maybe this was the same as the LC-10 kit Brian sells, but it does look different, I wonder if they're the same manufacture though? Quote
