wardd
Just have to throw this in. Sometimes the tree makes a pretty good top all by itself. I was going to hang this one in my living room, I have the bolts, but I can't seem to find any wall nuts. d ward

MOJO
Them's some wicked beautiful guitars...although that 'quilt and bridseye' combo looks more like burl to me. Whatever it is, it is gorgeous. Burl..i can see why you could say that? it does have similar type grain...i'm not a wood expert but isn't Burl maple usually a darker color raw..here what mine looked like raw.it's pretty white http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v53/MOJO...ITARS/048-5.jpg

I love the shark, those are a great improvement on F holes.
thegarehanman
If that top is burl, than that neck is burl as well. That would worry me, but that guitar looks to be fairing fine. Is there carbon fiber or graphite in that neck, mojo? Also, how does that puppy sound? peace, russ
martrix
Well, here is my contribution. Obviously it's not a guitar, but it is 2" thick! Can't wait till I get a bandsaw I have book-matched it on photoshop.

Prostheta
I have to point out that a "real" bookmatched top wouldn't look that way, as the figure shifts due to the grain reversing either side of the match. Still, that's a nice ol' piece of maple there!
feral_smurf
I'm sorry this might sound really stupid but is that a flat billet. It just so figured that is looks like honey comb or at least rounded. You got any plans for that? Simon

It's photoshoped to form a secon half

chops1983
I might get a bit sentimental right now on you guys but how amazing is it that nature creates such beautiful pieces of timber to look at! Im in awe, i could look at it all day. I often get into trouble from my wife cause i will stop to look at a nice piece of timber somewhere, joinery, or furniture... Haha Allright enough soppy crap, back to being a man and drinking beer and stuff.
