When using the micromesh pads on the fingerboards, are you using any lubricants? Or is there no real danger of the pads clogging when you're dealing with wood and not finish?

when the grits are that high, it usually doesnt clog. but sometimes with oily woods it still can. but most of the time its fine. no lubricants neccessary.

Mine couldn't read it either! Does you computer bring up three options when you click on it? Like find, save, or cancel? I just hit find and my computer brought up a link to download an Apple "QuickTime" application, which will allow me to play it. So if you computer doesn't bring that up, you should be able to find it pretty easy by searching for QuickTime movie player, I believe. I think that'd work, let me know if you do try it. J

BTW- If you like the program your computer uses to play audio files and such, make sure you unclick the setting that changes your computers default to iTunes program.

No worries! I had never watched that movie till just now when you mentioned that and went and found quicktime and downloaded it. I don't know if I never had quicktime on this computer or removed it. I'm glad you brought it up as I actually wanted to see how Ricks guitar was looking. It really looks really nice with that second coat on there, can't wait to see how it ends up. J

Sorry guys, it's the fault of my ancient digital camera. That's the only movie format it will produce. :D

Here's a pic after the 3rd application. Got the frets leveled and crowned today as well.

[Edit: I'll stop posting pics of the body now until it's completely finished. :) From the pics it doesn't look much different from coat to coat, although there's a noticeable difference seeing it in person.]

Trying to have it done by the end of the year. I only really can work on it on weekends though.

Here's the final application of Tru-oil drying.

Next up is to glue the neck in.

Speaking of which, I decided to oil the body, then glue in the neck, then oil the neck. In what order do you guys put those steps? I figured it'd be easiest to keep oil off the surfaces to be glued this way.
