Just the rings to mount and thats all the holes drilled and all I need to do is inlay the FB and then I can radius and fret it, and then shape the neck and the construction will be complete, then begins the task of finishing it... ElysianGuitars
really not feeling the headstock, though i bet it'll sustain for days...... can't wait to see the swirl though. Edited July 18, 2008 by ElysianGuitars
Bmth Builder
Obviously it may not be for the acoustic builders amoung us, but I think it suits the RG body very well Heres a mock up of progress so far...
travismoore
Headstock is not for me as well but otherwise looks great! Keep up the good work =D
Mr. Preston Swift
I don't care what anyone else says... that headstock looks sick and so far the guitar is lookin good
ihocky2
Not really felling the headstock either, but I am liking the rest so far. I think the problem with the headstock is that the RG and JEM bodies are rather slender and the horns are fairly thin. But most of the points on the headstock are thicker. I think a slight bit of reshaping to slender it up and make the curves a little more graceful and it would fit the body very well.
Tim37
i kinda have mixed feelings with the head stock as a lone piece i love it, but i think Ihocky is right it could use some tweeking on that guitar.
xDrugFreeJonnyx
The headstock is great in the way that it's very unique. Awesome looking guitar man. hats off.

carousel182
I really like this! I think you did a great job on it for your first build.
Narcissism
I like it a lot. I think the headstock would look a lot better if it didn't have that laminate stripe going through the middle and completing the entire tip. Perhaps tapering the laminate over the natural wood would look better for the tip of the headstock? I like the shape of it other than that. Bmth Builder
The headstock will be finished to match the body so you wont see it
Narcissism
OIC! In that case, i can only imagine what it'll look like once the swirl is put on! Can't wait to see it :thumbs up:
Donut Man
I think the headstock could look very cool if you sculpted it a little, maybe put some bevels on it, maybe a bit like the body an ESP F series. Are you going to swirl those mahogany pickup rings?
Bmth Builder
If all goes well with the swirling I've got a few suprises in store as far as the pickup rings go

Bmth Builder
Some carve pics I strung it up and its actually very comfortable, supports the hand very nicely, I expected to find it harder to play on because I'm use to Ibanez thickness, and this neck is really rather thick in comparison as I was too scared to take much wood of, but it shreds like the rest of my guitars (badly because I cant shred lol) It needs some sanding to bring it up to finish ready, and the fret ends need a lil work, but its an awesome lil player. Prob have to get it professionally leveled because I havent got a clue how to do that.

djhollowman
Excellent work Neil!! Especially with it being your first - v.impressed!!! Really reminds me of my own Capricorn R7t (see the link in my sig) That's not a shamless plug BTW, they really are very similar guitars. I love the headstock, I also found the headstock on mine divided opinion!! I'm a huge fan of guitars that look like they could actually kill you Reckon I would have narrowed the points on the headstock a little, to match the body horns better, but that's just an opinion. Regarding the neck thicknessing - I had the same situation. I ended up taking more wood off and re-shaping the neck on TWO occasions just to get it thin enough for my playing tastes!! You'll be amazed how much you need to remove from the sides to get it down to Ibanez proportions. When you mention "professionally levelled" are you referring to the fingerboard, or the frets? Watching this one with great interest, Neil. Good luck with 'er! DJ
