theodoropoulos
You just screw the pup into the wood through the holes in the tabs. Height is adjusted via spacers underneath, if necessary. thank you!!
pauliemc
Dude you sooo stole my body shape Only joking. Lookin realy good. I love that top carve. Hope you wore a mask working that wenge with a grinder, wenge dust is some of the nastiest stuff iv ever had to deal with.
psikoT
Hope you wore a mask working that wenge with a grinder, wenge dust is some of the nastiest stuff iv ever had to deal with. well... I use glasses (to see), so I fill uncomfortable with small white masks while working on wood... I only use a mask when working with bone or MOP. Bizzar_Guitars
Awesome job! Very neat work. I really like your binding and carve combination, and how the headstock binding and fretboard binding lineup, sweet! The headstock inlay looks great off set to one side. Great work! FireFly
It looks awesome! are you gonna throw some finish on it? I'd hate to see it chip or discolor.
psikoT
Thanks! are you gonna throw some finish on it? I'd hate to see it chip or discolor. sure, I'll finish it with nitro applied with brush... What do you mean with chip/discolor?... sorry, I don't understand... eddiewarlock
Chip es que se desconche... discolor supongo que se refiere a que si no aplicas un acabado la guitarra se queda manchada...

madhattr88
GREAT JOB!!! i love everything about it! Very excited to see your technique for finishing. Please post more pics! GOTM for sure!!!!
Prostheta
Smoking. I am impressed by the daring/insane carve on the body. That was a huge leap of faith. Whenever a luthier relies on their ability to create lines in 2 different woods through a carve it is worth watching. I am not sold on the neck/headstock binding but I will "hang fire" until the finish. (<--you saw that right Pro?_) Continue on \m/ Sorry, late to the party as is fashionable. Yes, I saw that! Prostheta
Wow, this is a fantastic build. Nice choice of growth ring cut on the headstock cap and body also! Wenge looks great in the flat but looks better in the quarter on the body. Perfect. The only negative (and I had to look hard to find any!) is that the lack of a secondary angle in the top carve to create a neck angle and the lack of heel contouring makes the heel look a bit fat and deep. I can appreciate how this would be an additional pressure in making the top carve correct however! This is a big GOTM contender. Look forward to seeing it there. :-)
psikoT
Thanks everybody! The only negative (and I had to look hard to find any!) is that the lack of a secondary angle in the top carve to create a neck angle and the lack of heel contouring makes the heel look a bit fat and deep. I can appreciate how this would be an additional pressure in making the top carve correct however! Totally agree... you forgot to mention the crappy binding end near to the heel (still thinking how to fix it)... that was a big design fail, this is my 6th build, and learning from errors... eddiewarlock
best way to glue binding, like in the end of the headstock is to use acetone. That way you'll get invisible joints
psikoT
best way to glue binding, like in the end of the headstock is to use acetone. That way you'll get invisible joints Already fixed I have a stupid question: I'm for the grain filling stage, and I'll apply it with brush... do I need to tap the binding for the grain filler or it could be applied over it like another coat of nitro?...
Prostheta
Grain filler scrapes off binding easily. You can tape it if you want however it depends on how you would prefer to do it I guess.

Geoff St. Germaine
Wow, just ran across this one. The carve with the wenge and ash body looks outstanding! Great work!
psikoT
Thanks!... glad you like it. I'm currently on the finishing stage, first coat of nitro after 6 coats of grain filler.

ScottR
After seeing the progress pictures, there was never any doubt that this was going to finish out gorgeous, and it certainly did. Brilliant job! SR

pan_kara
Whoa this looks killer! How did you manage to get such an even surface with the brushed-on nitro? Just sanding with a hard block? What grits did you go through? Care to share the process?
