1. Talk about a generalization. You criticize people for knocking other people, and you just insulted everyone on the forum. I don't post when I'm angry so I'll go and let someone else with a cooler head respond here. ← if you feel insulted even though you have no previous post in this topic, then that is your shortcoming, not mine. what i wrote was a statement on supply and demand, which is created and controlled by YOU,the consumer. don't like the facts?too bad.it is no insult to speak the truth oooohhh your angry over a statement you don't agree with.imagine that or maybe you think it is an insult saying these guys will not pay for quality?well will you? if you WILL pay what it takes to get quality, then it does not apply to you(of course..duhh..i feel like i am explaing to a child why the sky is blue) or maybe you think i am talking about guys who build instead of buy?i am not.they (we)are consumers of guitar parts...usually high quality parts.we build becausae we are unhappy with the way the market is being driven. i am talking about those guys who buy cheap guitars INSTEAD of the higher quality instruments, and then try to convince everyone it is the manufacturers fault that some of those agathis, generic hardware equipped guitars don't sound or play as well as the higher end.you get what you pay for if you won't save and pay, then you ARE part of the supply and demand forcing lower quality. i really despise when people pretend to misunderstand my posts just to create drama.want drama?watch jerry springer
2. jealous much? all of this "reasoning" just sounds like petty whining based on misinformation. are you guys aware that there are many different grades of bc rich guitars?i am willing to bet almost all of your "knowledge" is based on the korean imports...not the actual b c rich "flagship" guitars. you know...the american made customs?damn fine guitars they are too. don't like the way they sound?you can thank yourselves for that.the reason all these low cost low quality imports from all these brands are even around with all their cheap ass pickups is because you guys refuse to shell out the bucks for a guitar that might be worth playing... and then you base your opinions of an entire guitar brand on a few lousy imports that were created as starter guitars... you want a good bc rich? here you go http://guitartrader.com/bigimage.icl?pid=5...subsecid%3D1181 unclench the wallet and buy the best a guitar brand has to offer before deciding to critisize the quality of them. you WILL NOT EVER find a guitar of the quality of that one for the prices you guys can pay. if you ever want a truly great guitar of any brand, you will have to pay at least $1000...and that would be a steal. i know what you guys are thinking.."my $300 ibanez plays as good as that one!" no it does not....otherwise nobody would ever buy a jem or a les paul. i have been on a search for years for a great low cost guitar...it just does not happen.too many corners have to be cut to get that guitar to that price range
3. because he finds it amusing. he believes the world is only here to entertain him.he may be the only person on this forum more self centered than I am
4. i notice that neither of my new gibsons has a scarf joint. i doubt i will ever build a neck with a scarf joint...maple and mahogany are just too easy to come by around here in the proper sizes...and since i always do laminated necks ,they end up very stiff....

6.
Are you sure the url is correct?
i am sure it was correct in september of 2002
7. well..i just bought a new iron..a 25 watt weller.it reaches over 700 degrees.it works perfectly for guitar electronics...i used the medium sized chisel tip i used rosin core solder,no extra flux...and it was a very easy job,and my solder joints all came out perfect.
8. you ALWAYS want to match the impedances
9. i just replaced the pickups in my les paul studio with emg 81/85 so i have these for sale gibson u.s.a. pickups they claim these pickups are 490r and 498t,BUT both pickups have "t" stamped on the back,so i suspect they are both the 498t...but i don't know if that is what it means or not. these pickups will be shipped with ALL the electronics that came with the guitar(minus the three way, which i reused)...2 volume,2 tone, which are still attached to some sort of metal plate(grounding plate?)all the wiring is still intact on the plate, all i snipped were what was necessary to remove the pickups from the guitar..i snipped them right at the ends...and there was alot of extra wire,so the leads are still long enough for anything you might want.also the jack also comes with it...mono jack...still wired the pots are the large diameter shafted ones... really i think these are perfect for anyone building a les paul anyways...$60 for everything, and that includes shipping anywhere...as long as the shipping does not go over about $10.i have shipped a pickup to australia for $7 so i think the u.s. and most other countries would be fine.
10. very interesting concept.a bit ugly though i think.(the tuners i mean) if i were you...i would look at hydraulic hose fittings, brass fittings for propane lines...stuff like that. i think with a little research you could find some very nicely machined fittings which would do the same thing, but look better doing it.
11. it has been done before....by ed roman. personally i think it is a bit silly on a standard guitar.i would only consider it if i were building a steinberger type guitar...and then i would use honduran mahogany. but it really does limit your options...i think the best tones come from mixing wood types...maple/mahogany...alder/mahogany...etc on that subject...nobody ever talks about mixing mahogany with alder...but i did just that(with a little maple thrown in as well)and i think they make a perfect mix. mahogany neck through with alder wings would be great i think...because alder has the brightness mahogany lacks, without adding the extra harshness of maple but i have never seen one, other than the one i built.maybe someone else should give it a go. it will sound better than a solid wenge guitar,i promise
12. no... doug is saying move the saddle of the high e as close to the neck as it will go(high e is of course the small one) and then place the bridge so that saddle as the string crosses it is exactly at the scale length. but this topic has been beaten to death over the last couple of years. if you do a search on bridge placement or other similar ways of saying it,you will find all the informaton you need
13. i REALLY think it was the reverb being rattled by all the extra bass.
14. that's because your priorities lie with civil discussion of disagreements.i think that is great...i am the same way. but i assure you most people are not that way at all. i am not saying this thread has anything wrong with it...just that drak is correct...it serves no purpose in that nobodys opinions are influenced by it.
15. admit it...both of you WANT that mojo!!!you need it!!!!you have GOT to HAVE it!!!!!!!! heck...now i kind of want it too
16. could be...but i ordered several different 12ax7s and tried quite a few of them before i was happy with one. the difference was very subtle, but some were a bit harsher
17. do not order that guitar from guitar bargains if you are here in the u.s. you can go to music123.com and get the same guitar for a better price after shipping...or you could use the money you saved on shipping to buy the new geiger edition rgt(yes you heard me right) and STILL come out cheaper. and you will not have snotty "credit checkers" asking you to fax personal credit card info all over the world http://www.music123.com/Ibanez-RGTHRG1-HR-...r-i158837.music
18. in other words, you are so what are you disagreeing with?
19. i attempted to buy from guitarbargains.they asked me a day later to fax them a copy of my credit card and all kinds of unnecessary crap, plus wanted to charge $75 to ship a guitar. very unproffesional imo.i told them to get their act together or cancel my order
20. like lovekraft said, you don't bias or match preamp tubes....only power amp tubes. the mode 4 is a valvestate amp, basically.i have already replaced the tube once.just pull out the old one, push in the new one(line it up right)
21. fat chance. useless junk can be bought even cheaper than that
22. not necessarily.all you need is a stereo jack, which most guitars already have. some guitars ,such as ibanez, all come with a stereo jack like this http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics,_p...utput_Jack.html obviously you can't replace that with the emg one,and you also don't need to.
