  1. i know its improper technique but here how i do it i solder a small blob on the back of my pots then tin the leads then just lay your leads on the blob hold them in place with the iron and wait for it to melt to gather. it may not be the best but it hasnt given me any problems yet.
  2. not a lot of guitars this month but still a hard month they are all nice looking builds.
  3. Because he has absolutely no idea what he is doing and wont accept the advise that he asked for.
  4. http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/page/articles.html/_/tutorials/instrument-building/trem-to-hardtail-conversion-r48
  5. fret spacing is fretspaceing the scale is what you go by. if I was you I would buy a ultra cheap guitar off ebay and yank the parts off it http://www.ebay.com/itm/Burswood-Model-JE-3SD-Electric-Guitar-With-SD-Card-Recording-Playback-/370892915831?pt=Guitar&hash=item565af0c477 something like that would save you some money you can reuse the bridge cut the head off and glue what ever parts you need onto the neck use the pickups and all the other little stuff.
  6. There is a zztop vid where they use prop guitars they took standard stratocasters put a locking nut on them and just pulled the strings tight. Yeah they are just vid props but if thats what yout looking for that would be the easiest way slap a locking nut on there and forget it
  7. yeah I was thinking something along those lines isn't there a Floyd rose model that allows for a headless guitar?
  8. why does it need removed? it shouldn't be hurting anything.
  9. I have a feeling since your asking this question the short and simple answer is NO, yes it can be done but its gonna take someone who really knows what there doing to do it. I would say your best bet is to hang it on the wall and either start learning how to build a guitar or go buy a new one. you say its only gonna cost you a couple of hundred to do this but trust me by the time your done you will be at the point of nearly buying a low end Gibson.
  10. I like Sweed's first solution use larger bushings you can always use the parts you have left over later on
  11. i would check and double check befor I did it but a lot of amps will allow you to pull the tubes with no bad effects it all depends on the design of the amp.
  12. it may not look like a break but it doesn't look like a scratch either.
  13. How high is the nut set up? Does it "ring " when plucked open or fretted If its a bolt on neck i think i would try puting a shim in to tilt the neck foward then back off the relief to a normal amount, then see how it does.
  14. go with what look you want, i have set up several strats with vintage and two post trems both work great if set up properly and have good quality springs. I can divebomb slap kick and in general abuse the vintage style on my mim and it goes right back to tune. just follow fenders set up procedure also go through the procedure this dude has when stringing and tuning it http://youtu.be/O0Oyc6slYRc
  15. looks like he may have just takend a waterheater element and put in a pipe full of water to make his bender.
  16. just put a relay between the guitar and amp then all you do is send your signal to ground to cut it off.
  17. Truss rods are a necessary evil without them you would have to depend on string tention. I had a fender that the neck was dead straight with all the preasure off the trusrid and 10 strings on it i had to bump ip to 12s to get proper relief in the neck and i dont like 12s ended up trading off the guitar. My point is truss rods give you flexibility they allow a guitar to be set up the way you want it not the way the guitar wants. The only problem i can think of with your idea is your gonna have to install the rod very early in the process then carve out a neck around that rod its not going to be a forgiving process
  18. Same thing happening here i can post from my phone but not my comp
  19. If im not mistaking avengers does that quit a bit
  20. what he said dont worry about all that cloth wax bs unless your trying to restore a vintage guitar.
  21. I just traded off my strat loaded with emgs because i never did warm up to them but a lot of people love them, when i was laid iff i cant tell you how many i wired up.
  22. I dont even see a reason to harden it. Even in an anealed state the steel would wear slower than the wood around it
  23. Sounds like a cool job. There are softer stainless alloys out there but even then they are gonna be harder to work and getting them to level out is gonna be a bitch. Try it on some scrap and see what happens.
