  1. My guess is that you've found the right model, the AXS42, but it's older or newer than what's show on the website and has different inlays. Ibanez is notorious for not showing a lot of their product line on the web site. I had an RG320FM in cherry sunburst that I've never seen in the catalog or on-line. The serial number on the back should indicate where it's from with a letter, followed by 0 and another number. if I'ts C04 that means it was made in 2004 at the Cort Korea plant. Retail on those is $424-429 US. I'd say a mint version would be worth about $250 at best, as there's not a lot of demand for the AX line that I can tell. GBT
  2. The Duck Brand blue masking tape is almost as good as the 3m stuff but a lot cheaper. I've used it and the 3M blue masking tape when refinishing necks and what not and it's worked great. GBT
  3. Nice. I'm a huge McFarlane fan and had all the #1 covers for that issue. As long as that orange peel in the pictures isn't under the clear, that's going to be an awesome looking guitar! GBT
  4. Don't use olive oil. If you want to use an oil other than lemon for your fretboard, get bore oil for woodwind instruments. It lasts longer than lemon oil and it doesn't get sticky. GBT
  5. They're nice guitars. I've only seen one in person in my life, and they're not common as was mentioned. GBT
  6. Well, doing a quick search at newegg, it's going to cost me at least $189 for a SPDIF equipped SoundBlaster. That plus the cost of the V-Amp is enough to pay for a Bass Pod. Decisions decisions. GBT
  7. I clean mine about once every 6 months for the guitars I play often, and I change strings on them at least once a month if not more often. I use bore oil instead of lemon oil when oiling. GBT
  8. I've had that happen before with my Visa check card. Turns out that while they were sending the bank statement to my new house, they still had my old address online somewhere. I found out about it 3 years after I bought a house and moved, and it took forever to fix because no one knew where to look to find the wrong address in their system. GBT You guys all know that Musician's Friend is owned by Guitar Center, right? I know there are more than a few people here who have expressed a dislike or the local mega guitar mart. I'm tired of them because I've got 3 of them within a 50 mile radius, and there are less than 10 Ibanez guitars on the rack between all of them. GBT
  9. It's a custom Greco 7-string. Here's a better picture of it from the inside of the Guitarchitecture lienr notes at http://www.guitar9.com/aghtml/image/guitarchitecturealb7.jpg He endorsed Ibanez in the past, and I think still does. GBT
  10. Excellent. I was considering picking up a Bass Pod, but the limited time I got to spend with one (about 30 minutes) wasn't enough to get through more than the presets. Still, they all had very similar sounds to me, which didn't inspire paying the high cost of entry. I think I'll have to pick up the Bass V-Amp. Does it support recording over USB? GBT
  11. Was the pickup working when it was removed from the epiphone? Do any of the wires have metal shielding? If so, that's your ground. Can you post pics of your wiring setup? GBT
  12. Omega symbol = Ohms, so 8 Ohms = 8 Omega Symbol. What is your cab rated at? That should determine what output on the amp you're using. GBT
  13. I like the feel of the Omen 7's, but as you stated about other 7's, they need pickups. GBT
  14. It appears you're talking about additions to the base x86 instruction set like SIMD/SSE and applications that are optimized to use them. AMD and Intel both implement a complete x86 instruction set in their past and current x86 architecture processors, and they curently both support the full compliment of SSE/SSE2/SSE3 extensions. While Intel had SSE3 support before AMD, AMD supports it now so there is no performance increase from SSE3 optimized code on an Intel P4 that isn't seen on an AMD Athlon 64 as well. So it's not really an issue of compatible instruction sets, and the list of SSE3 optimized software is still pretty short. Pro Tools HD doesn't support any SSE exentions/optimization. Cakewalk Sonar supports SSE-SSE3, but it's not processor exclusive at this point so it's a non-issue. GBT
  15. How much is cheap? The Ibanez 7321 isn't bad. GBT
  16. I agree with everything else you said, but why the distrust of AMD? They've been showing up intel for the last two years now, and their price points are better. GBT
  17. I understand. I went into the one in Plano, TX a while back and they had a high dollar Breedlove where the neck was bowed so bad the bass strings were flapping. The guy walks in and says "have you played that breedlove yet?" and I just laughed. GBT
  18. I like it. I'd finsh the top clear so you can see the butcherblock look, which I personally this is awesome, but paint the sides/back. I'd mask off the first 1/4" from the top on the sides before painting for a faux binding effect where the butcherblock will show through on the sides. but that's me. GBT
  19. I haven't received mine yet, but I should since I'm a customer and on their catalog mailing list. GBT
  20. OK. I was under the impression that the H4 was now the standard bridge pickup for all ESP LTD guitars, at least according to EMG's web site. GBT
  21. And it won't work if you cut off the last two frets anyway, as it won't mate to the body correctly. Another thing to realize is even among guitars with AANJ like the RG series, the different model numbers don't have the holes in the same place. For example, an RG 300 series neck won't have the mounting holes in the same place as an RG 500 series neck. GBT
  22. You could always try a Bill Lawrence and an EMG H4. EMG says it's the passive version of the 81, so you shouldn't have any impedence issues since they're both passive. Even better, they can be found cheaply if you look. n/m, I just read your post completely. The EMG HZ that comes with your ESP is the H4 model. If you don't like the sound of it, then either it doesn't sound like the 81 in passive form as EMG says, or maybe the 81's not what you're after. GBT
  23. +1. On an ibanez with a barrel style jack, the battery ground is wired to the shortest of the three prongs. GBT
  24. OK, on the loud hum issue, I had the same thing happen to me last night when I wired up an 81 and 85 in my new S470DXQM. The wiring as all correct except for the quick connects to the pikcups. In my haste, I hooked the pikcups up with the connectors upside down, and that caused a really bad hum. Might that be what happened to you? GBT
