  1. Bigger strings... Fatter necks... That would be it...
  2. Personally, I did the back of my guitar with a 1/2" roundover bit, and it's VERY comfortable. I don't think i'll be doing any tummy cut because of it. And I haven't done the top (and it's glued so it's too late if I wanted it lol) So i'll probably do a very small roundover with sandpaper like you describe...
  3. Wich IS kinda a good idea! You're getting a nice 24(.069)" scale with a 25.5in fretboard...
  4. Hmmmm. I always tought they LOOKED unsymetrical because of the strap pin...
  5. Duncan does too, the phat cats i think they're called.
  6. I have and it's just a thinline guitar... The same as say a thinline telecaster. Body has wood routed out and a top is put on. That's it.
  7. OOOH! Nice idea there! Really that would be so cool!!! No need for the stacked HB either if this sounds right.
  8. I have to tell you this is a great amp... both my guitar teacher and a relative of mine have that amp (respectively the normal one and the WR) and they sound REALLY great. My own amp seems based somewhat on the same circuicy (it really sounds the same as my teacher's amp and has the exact same controls anyways...) and you really can hit everything... Good clean channel and really great distortion. Without boost, it sounds really vintage, and with it sounds modern/metal.
  9. LOL! At these prices, im thinking of selling my BOSS multi-fx and getting some pedals (as I now have a nice tube amp for the distortion stuff).
  10. Did you calculate anything seeing how this is a closed back cab... Anyways, I'm looking into making my own 2x12 8ohm cab, but probably open back... I might buy a speaker box and mod it though... Where did you buy your speakers/what are they? Thanks!
  11. Would it be possible with an alredy radiused FB to inlay the maple then sand it to the radii? wouldn't you just need to stop often to check things out?
  12. What you're trying to do is some kinda phantom power?? I think that's a good idea, but i'd think the best thing to do is to find an amp that consumes less power...
  13. Well, no one can really tell how it will sound... Different for sure but nor necessarely worse or better. I mean... having 2 different magnetic fields is not always a bad thing. Look at the Dimarzio Duo-sonic(?) or the SD Screamin' Demon... They have different polepiece designs (or rail for the dimarzio) and it's what makes their sound. What I think is that it will kinda sound like a stacked humbucker... Because the weaker feild shouldn't affect the other coil's sound but it'll still be humbucking.
  14. I think too much gold is just too... "bling bling" Seriously, too much is just ugly... Personally I would even drop out the gold frets... And if you really want those frets, go without inlays or a single one on the 12th fret...
  15. I was thinking... What about we have a limit on the amount of 2X4s we use? Maybe something like only using an 8' 2x4 for the whole thing? And btw for those that wonder about the tone of spruce/pine and stuff, Parker's most costy guitars are made from solid spruce...
  16. Well, As Godin's thingie is just NOT a cigar box guitar, I'll give my vote to Nitefly! For the PVC trem and the flatheat nut ! (and the cool headstock too ) I mean come on! a cigar box with grover minis!! It's surely the best instrument, but not a cigar box Alright, i'm out
  17. Well, I've seen Koa and Maple tops, so I don't know... Maybe some hardwoods would work. Maybe a Purpleheart top would work? (If maple works...)
  18. Bah, just tune it in an open tuning or another... a 12 string with open tuning is just SO great!
  19. bah you can try to compensate when tuning or tightening the springs... IE: tuning from e to E, tune the higher strings a little bit sharp. It takes much less time... And btw, setting a trem is not so hard... I've set up mine a few times alredy (when changing string guages (got 11s on now... went from 9 to 10 and now 11)) even though the 1st time I had no idea what to do... It's pretty damn easy, just time consuming!
  20. I think nitefly is on it... It looks to me like engraving that has some gold leaf paper glued on the inside.
  21. wouldn't it be simpler to stain black then use tinted grainfiller then just sand back till only the grain lines are filler, then some clear (matte preferably)
  22. i'd think that with that your high strings will sound darker and with more volume than your bass... Since they're farther from the bridge than bass strings.
  23. For me it depends... I can stand much older strings on my eletcric than on my acoustic. Dunno, the sound seems to be less affected by strings on my electric than on the ovation... Ovation really needs new strings or else it just sounds bad... Defeat the whole sound that I like in my ovation (sounds very bright and metallic). So I use elixirs on my acoustic so it stays with that sound... BTW I hated blue steel strings last time I tryed em... Sounded duller new than used!! Anyways... I can change them anywhere between 2 weeks to 2 months... depending on what brand of strings and how much I play... And on when I can get my ass to the shop.
  24. well, gotta say i love that color, but i'd really see some nice tinted red laquer on it...
  25. When I saw your ideas, I had the same reaction than thegarehanman... Make another one smaller or larger... It will look damn great!
