13. Hey folks, here's my latest. The specs: Multi-piece neck-thru (Mahogany, Maple & Purpleheart) 27" (702.82 mm) Baritone scale length 27 medium jumbo frets (28 if you count the ‘zero fret’) Single action truss rod (adjustable at head stock) Purpleheart compound radius fret board (20" at the nut, ~24" at the 27th fret) Walnut stringers Figured maple wings Original Bizzar design (I think) inspired by the great white shark 12 degree angled head stock 2 degree neck angle 2 Bizzar Humbuckers each with coil split switches and a single phase switch Two volumes One tone Tune-O-Matic bridge String thru with ferrules Corian nut Varathane Crystal Clear Waterborne Diamond Wood Finish Outdoor Gloss spray finish LED’s under the fret marker inlays with fiber optic side markers, LED’s turned on via stereo jack. With the exception of the maple wings ($30), the rest of the wood for this guitar was scavenged from my local building materials store. Here's the plan: Poseidon Plan I have a differnt way of doing things. For instance, I cut the truss rod channel form the center laminate before gluing the all the laminates together, eliminating the need for a curved truss rod channel jig. I made the center laminate the exact width of my completed truss rod, making for a snug fit. Here's a look at the center laminate and the fillet cut fom it: Center laminate A look at Poseidon with the wings attached: Wings on After staining my last guitar, (Kyle's Warlock) it was suggested by many that I should have left it natural. What do you think about this one? Should I add some stain or not? Here's some primitive web pages detailing the progress: Bizzar Guitars - Poseidon More to came as it progresses. Thanks for looking. Ciao, Garth
14. Matt, I put my truss rods into plastic sleeves to prevent any glue from stopping the rod from doing its job. I make my truss rod channels wide enough to accomodate the sleeve. The plastic sleeves I use are just plastic tubing, available in your neighbourhood building material store, in the plumbing department. The plastic tubing also prevents the rod from rattling inside the channel too. The fillet, once glued in place, and the fretboard once glued to the neck should be enough to keep the rod curved. Ciao, Garth
15. Here's one way to do it: Nut Spacing Rule Ciao, Garth

21. Nice! How did you do the swirly pattern?
22. !!METAL MATT!! - Thanks, yes, I put clear coat on the fretboard for several reasons: - The Jatoba wood I used did not look very good in its unfinished state. - The plastic inlay dots I used over the LEDs was kind of cloudy looking after I had finished sanding the fretboard, and the clear coat hides that. - I've seen some guitars, particularly Fenders, where the fretboard has been clear coated, and they looked ok, so I thought I'd try it. Other than the fact that it will eventually wear off, can anyone point out a negative side to doing this? Maiden69 - I like it natural looking too, but my son wanted some colour to it. Too bad your son's not interested, but look at it this way, you don't have to worry about him borrowing your guitars. neocon58 - Thanks, but sorry, I'm already raising 4 kids on my own now, I don't know if I could handle another mouth to feed! For all of you in favour of a clear finish, the next one will have a similarly laminated neck, maybe I'll conduct a Project Guitar poll before I finish it! Ciao
23. Thanks for the positive responses! mailman - I have several other designs, similar to the Viking (the first one): Introducing the Viking Bizzar Guitars Viking Pics on Photobucket Hopefully, I get around to making them someday. Nitefly SA - I knew nothing about LEDs before I started this. It was pretty simple (thanks to the internet). scottyd - I wanted to give it a natural finish, but my son wanted all black, so we met half way. american_jesus - Yes he IS very lucky, but, now he OWES me! I've gotta be nice to my kids, after all, they're going to pick my nursing home! Duff Beer Man - I put a resistor on each LED, so that if, heaven forbid, one dies, the others still work. If I ever have to repair it, I know exactly where the problem is located. Anyone remember the old Xmas lights that if one bulb went out the whole string died? The LEDs are running off of 2 1.5v AA batteries. The resistors are 1/4 watt 33 ohm, cause that's what this site recommended: http://led.linear1.org/led.wiz Ciao
