  1. really nice work man, what kind of paint do you use for the airbrushing? same lacquer or other kind of material?
  2. Looks like you too round the edges of the fretboard, I love that "broken in" feel. Congrtas.
  3. It's your time, materials don't matter too much, but time is irreplaceable, your doing the right thing.
  4. Let me be the first to welcome you to the asylum. My advice to you would be to think every step very carefuly and respect the tools. Don't work too tired that's when accidents happen. Have fun with your build, there are lots of great people here that will make sure you end up with a great guitar.
  5. I love those open pore finishes, they make the wood look like it should.
  6. Awesome Scott, I'm glad you redid the whole thing, it's looking better than ever. By the way is that vol knob in the correct place?
  7. No. And don't take it personal I know there are great luthiers throughout the world. This site has taught me that. But like Searls said outside of a few guys I know from email and forums I am not sure who the heck might decide it was a good day to try something they have never attempted on one of my guitars.I asked Allen to help me out when it comes to repairs. If I send guitars to within driving distance (whatever a customer is willing to drive) of Searls I would be happy for him to work on my stuff.I just have to hope the local guy is good in other parts of the world. Got it, sorry for the misunderstanding, now back to a killer thread.
  8. '' Instead I have to depend on the local luthier to do the work... luckily for me in Perth it is Perry. But the rest of the world is not so lucky.'' Do you really think that there aren't people capable of doing a proper job of setting up and adjusting a guitar anywhere else in the world? Or am I missing something here...
  9. Just try to get some bubblewrap under the guitar at all times.....
  10. Welcome, you will definitively learn a trick or two here. Go slow, respect the tools and think of the steps a lot before actually committing. Good Luck.
  11. Photobucket acts funny from time to time but is easy to use.
  12. My experience with rattle cans is that it takes ages for the finish to get hard, if you don't spray light coats with ample time to dry between coats and/or go too heavy, they won't cure at all.
  13. That's one very cool strat! Only thing I would consider is shortening those saddles screws before they shred my hand to pieces......
