  1. So.... the client made you tint it black....well...as soon as he signs your check SHOOT HIM. Nice work by the way.
  2. I'm really interested in starting to brand my logo, would you care to elaborate on temp., application time, and overall impresion? Thanks. Jose. PD: got any branded headstock closeups?
  3. Nice flame on that neck. Great top. I think by the looks of it that pic that I would 've left it black.......... but that's me, the blue also delivers..
  4. Going out the door tomorrow Finished pics: Specs: bolt on construction chambered sapelle body flamed maple top maple neck ebony fretboard oil + wax finish graphtech nut 1 11/16 no fret markers side markers chrome gotoh hardware master vol, master tone, Coil split on tone pot, 3 way toggle neck pickup Duncan P-Rail bridge pickup Suhr SSH please excuse the crappy cel pics last two shots show the real colors. Thanks for watching
  5. You won't get that black finish with oils, they have an amber tint to them that will give you a brownish color. Your best bet for the finish you posted is to go with satin lacquer or poly over a black dye as you suggested.
  6. Can't tell you about pine for a neck, never used it before in it, but I'll follow this one. I'd like to see how it ends.
  7. You're right memory failed me, he didn't mention ss fretwire, what he mentions is that he buys the hardest fretwire he can get. But, the bullsh*** is there:
  8. Ever since I heard the man saying he's seen chunks of nickel frets falling to the floor while people were playing just to justify the use of ss frets, I doubt everything he says...
  9. I think he only has to use the ones that are all over the place........ They don't work on the floor.
  10. For better results I would advise the jointer, a planer can leave some snipe at the ends of your stock making it difficult to get a nice seamless joint at these points.
  11. Nice! Would like to see pics of the jigs you used.
  12. You already established your neck line (center line) when you laminated your stock. What I meant was that the center line in that neck ( along the entire body ) doesn't look parallel with where the center line in that body should be. Like I said before, maybe it is an illusion caused by the spalt.
  13. I'm with you Wes, don't lower your standards just for the sake of saving some wood. I'm against waste, but not for the price of quality. I think your idea of a set neck and wings for another build is the way to go.
  14. On that last picture it looks like the neck line is not running parallel with the body, or is it the spalt that's throwing me off?
  15. I think the trans red will look incredible on that top.
  16. I wish all hijacks were as detailed and informative as this one.
  17. Look at the bright side, you won't have grounding issues in your basement.
  18. That is one of the best bookmatch I've seen in a while.
  19. I believe the plan is called fretboard.........
  20. You just destroyed a good towel..........Nice build! The way that wenge flows with the contours is awesome.
